This take-away has a good selection of food on offer perfect for those carb loving moments. My favourite meal from a take-away of this kind is always the chicken in pitta. It normally comes full of salad with the chicken being freshly carved in front of you. However, I was really disappointed by this one as the chicken was taken out of a pot which was stored in the front heater(where they keep the battered sausages). The chicken didn’t taste fresh nor was there much of it. I think it’s safe to say that the chips had sat there for a long time too as they tasted soggy and pretty rank. Surprisingly, I didn’t finish my food and ended up chucking it in a bin on the way home. Not impressed

If you’ve had one too many drinks after work and you’ve got to get home to your spouse without being caught by your boozy breath then a stop off at the Urban Feast Takeaway will sort you out before you get your train home. This pocket-sized takeaway is located opposite the back entrance to New Street Station. With meal deals covering your meat, potato and pop needs the only thing you’ll require is 10 minutes to wait for your food — you’d rather have a freshly cooked burger wouldn’t you? I have to admit I’ve only been here in a ‘merry’ capacity, shall we say, and I’ve never gone in alone. Though the guys working here are friendly enough the word grease comes to mind — and not of the burger variety. I’ve seen the flirting and ogling of girls get a bit too sleazy at times. This aside, the food is tasty and well-cooked. The mix and match menu has everything fast foody you can think of on offer, plus more! On Fridays and Saturdays they are open until 4am so if you do miss the last train and end up having a few more pints bear this place in mind. Anything with chips to end your night can’t be bad.

It appears that great takeaways are like buses, you find it hard to find one and then two come along at once. Next to the impressive Wok Your Way is Urban Feast which serves fish and chips alongside chicken tikka kebabs, pakoras and freshly-made naan. Great cultures mixed in a simple £3.50 meal deal. Be advised though, when I say chips, we’re really talking about fries. No bad thing, but traditionalists may be disappointed. As food is made to order there can be a wait but the tastes and individual customisation make it worth it. What’s more is that, unlike Wok Your Way, Urban Feast has seating. Downstairs there is space for approximately 30 diners. TVs mean a lone diner never feels a bit of a Charlie, thanks to streaming news or a spot of sport. Toilets are also available for customer use.

Having been on something of a quest for the best doner kebabs in Birmingham, and following a recommendation by an excellent Qypian, I went along to Urban Feast a few days ago, hoping that my search would be at an end. It probably is! The doner kebabs here are certainly the best I’ve tasted in Birmingham. They are still offered in pitta bread, which as far as I’m concerned is the only way to serve a proper doner kebab. The meat is hot, tasty, and not at all greasy. There’s plenty of it, too. The salad is crisp and fresh, and the only negative I could find was that lettuce has – as in so many places these days – replaced the shredded cabbage which, again, is what I ideally like on a kebab. The fries(not chips, these are more along the line of those you’d get in McDonalds etc.) were pleasant enough, though by no means the highlight. Unfortunately I can’t comment on any of the other food sold here, and it’s unlikely that I will be able to, since I shall probably only be buying doner kebabs in future! However, the staff were courteous and efficient, and I have little doubt that the rest of the menu is of similar quality. There is a downstairs eating area, into which I didn’t venture. Parking is somewhat tricky, as essentially there isn’t any! If you’re prepared to risk parking on a double-yellow, or in one of the few loading areas, or if you’re brave enough to risk the wrath of the massed ranks of taxi drivers by taking up one of their spots, then you should be okay! As far as my particular Donerish requirements were concerned, I would give them a solid 8/10, and unless somoene can persuade me to give somewhere else a try, this will probably become my regular destination whenever I hear the siren-song of the doner kebab calling me. Thank you Claire :)

It’s a nice place to eat near new street station. The ordering counter is one the ground floor and you can go out to eat or go down a level in the basement and eat with all your friends and family. It’s spacious and also consists of pizza ordering facility which was newly built during refurbishment in summer 2007
