Met up with my cousin for a pleasant breakfast at my new fave veg café. Good service. I had the small English breakfast as usual. It was just right. It was slightly too cold in the café but we did get there at opening time. Love the café latte. I order the coffee separate to the steamed milk so that I can make it as strong as I wish. I use the squeezy agave syrup as opposed to sugar. It’s low GI.

Now, I love a good vegetarian meal. I’m not veggie, but I do appreciate a restaurant that serves tasty and wholesome food in a comfortable setting. That pretty much sums up my first experience of Veg Out Café. I never had a chance to visit Manic Organic(which is a little sad really, as the reviews were really good), but when I spotted that the venue had, had a rename and a bit of a facelift; I thought it was about time I got myself down there to give it a go. Veg Out is just off the High Street in Kings Heath and pretty easy to find. It’s lovely pastel painted and smart looking exterior mirrors the simple and robust interior. With hard wood tables, chairs and walls and simple artwork on the wall; it’s message is clear. Simplicity and taste. I wanted to find somewhere to take Elite Ben C. for a spot of lunch on the Monday. As he is a vegetarian it was a solid choice. The menu isn’t huge which is always a bonus in my eyes. A small, well balanced and considered menu is always better than a large menu in my mind. I opted to go for the Fallafel wrap(£7.95) and a fruit smoothie(£2.95) and Ben went for a cold drink and a veggie burger. My wrap was fantastic, with just the right amount of different tastes and ingredients to keep it interesting without overwhelming the palate. The service was friendly and efficient(and a special shout out goes to their work experience lad who was helpful throughout). Our meal with drinks came in at just over £20. We could have gone for the sandwich option(which would have been cheaper), but when there is Fallafel on the menu — that’ll always be my first choice. In the evening they offer dinner with BYOB — meaning you can keep the cost down of a meal out. Hat’s off to these guys. They’ve got the recipe right for a tip top dining experience. I recommend you get down here and give it a go for yourself.

Simple vegetarian café shop hidden about 2 minute walk off High Street. You probably wouldn’t know about this place if you haven’t been in Kings Heath before. I’ve been around Kings Heath for years and had no idea about this place untill I found Unilocal. I’ve been here couple times. First time I went there were a few customers inside. The other time I was the only one there the entire time, I was there early morning so that’s probably why. They have a breakfast menu which is simple, not a lot of variety of breakfast options, just the usual english breakfast(full or small) Had full english breakfast with english tea. Staff was amazing and polite both times. I love that. The meal was pretty good. Food was simple with not much spices or seasoning. It’s very organic and cooked/fried as it is. To some people, it might taste bland, I liked it. Potatoes were fine, would’ve liked them to be abit more soft but that’s personal preference. They use different veggie sausages from other places I have been. Portions are good, you will not feel hungry after I promise you. I was full by the time I left, and it’s not bad the price. All comes down under £8 with tea. One of the cheapest place I had breakfast in. Pop in whenever you around the area. Note that it is CASHONLY so get to cash point beforehand
