My fiancé and I visited the restaurant on Saturday 2nd April. There was plenty of spaces in the car park. From the outside it looks very nice. Inside it was very dull and there were children running around all over the place. We sat down at the only spare table. The table was very sticky and so worn that it was jagged and felt very rough to the touch. We ordered our drinks from the bar. There was a large queue for the carvery when we joined. The loos are right next to the carvery and we were having to constantly move for other people to get in and out of the carvery queue as well as the toilets. The selection of veg was good but there was no mashed potatoe. The meat selection was turkey, Gammon and Beef. After waiting in the queue for about 15 mins, when it came to be my turn the Gammon ran out, which is my favourtie. The chef asked me if I wanted to wait for a fresh piece of Gammon to come out, I very reluctantly said yes. This held up the enitire queue and I felt very uncomfotable. My partner had already gotten his meal so he left me. After about 8 or so minutes the chef came out with a new piece of Gammon which looked vey nice. Now, whiilst I was waiting to be served I noticed that the chef was giving very generous portions of meat to other people, however, when it came to be my turn, the chef gave me two thin slices of gammon and turkey(I do not like beef). After being kept waiting for so long and then being given a small amount of meat compared to everyone else, I was very annoyed. I was to embaressed to ask for more meat in case I was refused. I pay the same price as everyone else and therefore expect to be treated the same as everyone else. When I got back to the table my partner had just finished his meal, so I had to eat mine alone. I am very very disappointed witht the service I recieved, although my partner was quite happy with his meal. I wont ever be going back there again.

I’ve worked in Wythall for 9 years but never ventured into the White Swan. However the need to treat my elderly parents to a carvery(their choice) saw me venture in there on a Wednesday lunchtime. The ambience of the pub leaves a lot to be desired, it was quite dark and depressing in there on what was a dull day. The tables and fitting look quite worn too and the toilet door next to the carvery counter was locked which meant a trek right across the pub back to the entrance for the other loos. I wasn’t thus expecting much from the food but after paying a measely £14 at the bar for 3 carveries and 3 halves of lager(I initially thought there was a mistake!) we joined the queue at the carving point. This was deserted for a good 5 – 10 mins as the chef was out restocking with a new joint but he eventually came back. The meat available was gammon, beef and turkey, we tried all but the latter and it was very good. Veg choice was excellent too. The desserts were a bit disappointing and I cant recommend them on the basis of what I tried, I had an insipid browny with really cheap looking ice cream(a lot of water in it so it melted rapidly). Also the standard filter coffee I had was one of the worst I have ever encountered and these extras aren’t priced as attractively as the carvery main meal. The staff seem very friendly though. If you want a no frills meal that’s way cheaper than doing it yourself then by all means give it a go, the sister pub in Kings Heath which was recently refurbished might be more attractive inside and I am sure just as good value. Whichever you go to, you don’t have to wash up either!

You get what you pay for here, and you dont pay a lot. I’ts ok for a really cheap carvery meal, but you would be disappointed if you came here for an ‘occasion’. staff are friendly enough, and there seemed to be plenty of them. dont come mid week though as it doesnt seem to have the turnover of customers to keep the food fresh. Dont expect pudding either as at 8 oclock we went to oder and was told that the kitchen had closed early because the pub was quiet.

a fantastic carvery which is extremely cheap £3.25 on week nights. they operate a system where you order at the bar and get given a mea ticket which you hand in at the carvery counter. this means that the waiting times are greatly reduced which is fab as your mouth starts watering as soon as you enter the pub. they do other food as well and the mushrooms were delicious as a starter. the puddings are traditional — sponges, crumbles and ice cream. again they are very well priced. they cater for children and there are plenty of high chairs. the portions are generous and the quality of the food is excellent.
