As this has been posted before the old Woktastic closes it’s doors and new venue announces it’s new location, I would like to make it more of a love letter to one of my favourite businesses in Birmingham. Oh Woktastic… You’ll never know how you lifted my spirits on a dull, grey day by offering a brightly coloured haven to enjoy a warming lunch. Oh Woktastic… Your Sushi conveyor has filled my belly and raised my mood by offering top notch rice based treats on many a weekend trip through the City. Oh Woktastic… I can’t even tell you how many birthdays and new years days were celebrated with you. You’ve become part of the gang and I’ll miss the background whir of the conveyor, the smell of the green tea and the friendly greeting which was always received on entering your doors. Oh Woktastic… Thank you for being a staple of my foodie lifestyle in Birmingham. I’m very excited to visit your new location, but your orange and animé themed interior will always keep a little piece of my heart. Thank you for being fantastic. Goodbye old friend.

So after some particularly disappointing ramen at a chain unnamed, we decided to head into our frequent favourite Woktastic for a second try at it. Not only was their ramen infinitely more tasty and varied, it also came with friendly service and a warm and cheery atmosphere. We also ordered some of their starters and sides, and tucked into the chicken katsu curry and teriyaki salmon. Everything was at the same high standard that we have come to expect from them. We will miss it a lot during its renovation! Where else can we go for delicious Asian cuisine under a tenner? Not sure that anywhere else exists that could compare, if I’m honest.

I’m never disappointed my Woktastic, I tried sushi restaurants that don’t have an all you can eat but its never been us fun or the food remarklably different. With buffet restaurants its often that the food won’t be as good as if it was prepared individually but I don’t think thats the case with Woktastic. In the past few years I’ve noticed a wider range of dishes on the convey belt, a few stir frys and rice dishes have now been included. I really like that this has been added as I don’t have buyers regret about not ordering of the main menu when I see people order katsu curry.

It’s official I love Woktastic! Having lived in the West Midlands for four years I’ve finally got round to dining here and boy was I not disappointed! There is some much choice on the menu! Bento boxes, curries, noodle dishes, sushi the list goes on! My party of four were seated right by the conveyor belt of sushi delishness :) where tasty dishes cruised before our eyes, urging us to pick them up. I opted for the unlimited sushi buffet priced at £14.99 and it’s not just sushi you have to choose from but spring rolls, miso soup, deep fried sushi, katsu curry and pickles. There are also mini desserts such as jelly and cheesecake. After about 8 plates I was stuffed! The food was great and it was lovely to watch the chefs at work preparing the food before our eyes. They also do take out here too — Brucey bonus! Can’t wait to return. Oh and the staff are awesome too — accommodating and friendly.
