Rosso

Rosso is our go to take away when we don’t want the standard Just Eat fare. They have their own app which makes ordering easy, though the app needs refinement as its a cluncky process with no meal descriptions etc.
For £25 you can order the meal for 2; 2 starters, mains, and either 2 desserts or a bottle of wine.
We’ve enjoyed many tasty dinners from here both take away and dining in. Fab wee deli with lots of delicious Italian meats/​Cheese/​wine, and a great selection of pastas, oil, coffee etc too.

For my birthday dinner, I decided to try somewhere new. Riva in Bothwell, South Lanarkshire is somewhere I’ve always wanted to try but somehow just haven’t. I saw plenty Facebook check-​ins and people talking about it, so I knew I’d enjoy it! Bothwell is a small town outside Glasgow and boasts a gorgeous high street that rivals the typical Lanarkshire town centre. Bothwell is known for its affluent inhabitants, and I find that this is reflected in the high street! Riva is number 1 on this high street and you definitely look as you drive/​walk past. It has windows that show the entire front end of the restaurant and the mezzanine level, which hosted a private function when I was there. Inside, the restaurant is fairly small and cosy but is decorated in a modern fashion. The striped booth seats match the theme of the menu, website and their Facebook. These stripes are matched with simple stone and wooden walls and floors. The tables were simply set with cutlery and wine glasses. The food was absolutely stunning! I’d strongly advise you to read the full review with photographs. It was delicious. For two Cokes, two rosé wines and a long vodka in addition to this wonderful spread, the bill came to £90, or £22.50 per head which is very reasonable! I will definitely be back, and I doubt I’ll amend my order for next time!

Had to write a review update for this place and change my review to 5 star for the experience I had last night! Went here last night unplanned, as the restaurant we did plan on going to was closed, and I’m glad it was!
Riva was absolutely mobbed last night, and we were lucky to just walk in and get a table, but we were seated at one of the only tables they still had available. Our service was impeccable all night and the food was just as amazing as it ever is here, and having ate here 3 times now and ordered different food every time, I can safely say they have a wonderful menu of food. Steak was glorious, wine was glorious, whole experience was definitely worth a 5 star review update!

On my mission to try all of Bothwell’s fine dining establishments, I decided to get a take away from one, to balance out the different types of service. That and, I couldn’t be bothered putting slap on and walking up in the rain (that sounds more like the truth)
So last night, we picked from the online menu, which is short and sweet but has something pretty much everyone will like I think, and rang up for delivery. We only waited around 15 – 20 minutes when the door bell rang and a man bearing two big Rosso emblazoned bags handed over the goods.
I had the meat antipasto platter to start, which came in a plastic bowl. I have to say, I was impressed. Layers of prosciutto, salami milano, pancetta were topped with salad and grilled red peppers, green and black olives, sunblushed tomatoes and a slice of Italian bread with butter. Absolutely delicious, and waaaay too much to eat before a meal. I was super impressed by the quality of this starter. I even had a little nibble of one of my boyfriends arancini and that was delicious too.
For my main, I had Penne al Tonno, a tuna, tomato and garlic pasta. It was essentially just a really tasty tuna pasta, which would be easy peasy to knock up at home, but it hit the spot. I’m pretty sure it was made from tinned tuna but it was still lovely. That with a slice of cheesy garlic bread (which wasn’t that garlicy, my only real disappointment) and I had myself a perfect Sunday night scran that would rival Indian and Chinese takeaways across Bothwell. The price was fab too, at less than £30 for two starters, two mains and 2 sides plus delivery.
My only criticism, if you could call it that, is that Rosso’s home delivery service is a pretty well kept secret. They don’t really advertise anywhere and you can only contact them through the Riva website. If more places like this got on board with internet companies like Just Eat, the business would boom in no time. I’ll certainly be ringing in this yummy Italian take-​away again soon!

I have been here on a number of occasions and it never disppoints. They offer a great value pre theatre menu as well as a la carte. The food is well presented and the décor is pleasant. The staff are friendly and helpful. It can be a bit noisy, I think this is due to the open plan room. It is worth a trip.
