Just went back while visiting the Air Show again this year. So good I needed to write an update to make sure everyone knew!

Best fish and chips in Bournemouth by a country mile. Worth queuing for. My advice, phone your order through beforehand.

Fish and chips done right. Cooked fresh to order, the friendly staff at Chez Fred serve up the best chippy food I’ve had for ages! Hot chips, fresh fish, homemade tartar sauce, battered sausage, pickled onions and cans of pop — a proper traditional chippy unassumingly sat on Seamoor Road. If you’re in the area go here. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is the portion sizes — they are on the small side, which is great for the waistline but a bit of a disappointment to the starving seaside belly you get at the end of a long day at the beach. For around £12 for 2 meals, you are full and it is great quality so it isn’t a huge issue. There’s also a restaurant if you’d prefer silverware and a plate rather than the paper bags and wooden cutlery(which were actually really good) you’re given in the adjoining takeaway.

Don’t understand the hoopla. The fried haddock was good, but not amazing. I’ve had much better fried fish(Friday fish fry) in the states. I guess it’s not bad for the area, but definitely not worthy of 5 stars. I had the fried haddock(extra large) with onion rings and chips, battered sausage, curry, and homemade tarter sauce. The sausage was not what I was expecting. It was more like a fish and chicken paste shaped like a sausage and deep fried. Not very tasty. The haddock was pretty good, but nothing special. The best part of this place was their server Stef who was incredibly kind and efficient.
