Went in here this weekend after staying the night after we saw Placebo at the O2 Academy Bournemouth. It is located perfectly right by the pier and beach, best fish and chips! The sign on the front states ‘the worlds most famous fish and chips’ and you can’t argue with that. Yes they’re pricey but if you get a cod and chips you will have money well spent. My only gripe would probably be that if you’re taking away it isn’t always instant as we were waiting for about 10 – 15 minutes for the scampi to cook, however this didn’t matter as we stated we were eating in anyway. If you go to Bournemouth you must visit this place!

A very pleasant seaside experience. Sat inside to avoid the chilling wind, the décor is clean and stylish and the menu extensive — obviously battered fish was the main draw here. Lovely haddock, although not the biggest. The fish was cooked beautifully tho and the chips were standard. Mushy peas and gherkin flavoured tartar sauce gave a lovely moist twang. Staff not really attentive or organised and felt they were concentrating on getting tips, but on the whole good service. You can’t beat fish n chips by the seaside!

This place has an excellent location (right by the beach with a great view). The amount of food we got for the amount of money spend was very little. If you’re going there with two people i would reccomend the big english breakfast and share it (if you want to go for the english breakfast). We did the math and you definitely get more food for your money with the big english breakfast platter. Overall the staff kinda forgot about us a little and served the table next to us. Also, they did not tell us we had to pay at the counter on our way out so we were sitting at our table for ages waiting to pay.

My boyfriend told me this was the best place for fish and chips. I guess he read the massive words on the front of the building where it says: World most famous fish and chips.
Never heard of it.
I ordered scampi and fires and both were just average. My scampi where only 8, that you won’t expect with that price and being take away.
My boyfriend had cod with chips. The cod was quite ok and the portion was massive. So basically he made a good order choice and I made a terrible one.
We had to pay 20p for each portion of ketchup, mayo, etc that by the way it is said nowhere in the menu.

Harry Ramsdens ist eine Kette, die sich auf FishnChips spezialisiert hat. Die Qualität ist in Ordnung, man kann entweder drin essen oder sich alles mit an den Strand nehmen, der direkt davor ist. Mich stört die viele Panade, und fettig Fritiertes sollte man auch mögen. Genauso wie Essig über den Pommes. Wenn man das nicht mag, sollte man schnell Bescheid sagen Ist halt dortzulande so üblich. Die Portionen sind zum Sattwerden, und es gibt auch mehrere Größen zur Auswahl. Bißchen fast-​food-​mäßig das Ganze, aber wen das nicht stört, ist hier gut aufgehoben.

Ate here twice recently and i was in heaven! Large cod, large chips, sides of peas and curry. Just whats needed after a days walking. Deeeellliiiccciiiooouuussss!!!
And all with a sea view :-D

I haven’t been to any other of the Harry Ramsden’s but this is easily hands down, the worst performing site they have. I ordered a large cod for my mate and reg chips and cod for myself. I waited so long. I had to watch others who ordered more and after me get there food before me. So my order finally came, they got it wrong. Got given 2 reg chips and cod. I was too hungry to complain. Did not get asked if I wanted Salt, vinegar or any kind of sauce to accompany the fish and chips. I think I was just unlucky that day to be served by the most retarded combination of employees the site has. I should have gone to Chez Fred. Slightly longer walk from the part of the beach I was chilling at. The chips sucked. The cod was average, had better. Nothing world famous about this place. Waste of such a good location.

We went here soon as they opened at 11.30am, as it was chucking it down of rain and we were all hungry and thirsty. We had the kids sausage and chips with a drink, chicken burger and chips, large sausage in batter which was all nice, the chicken fillet burger was really nice and you got lots of chips with it. The girls liked there meal and it was nice just looking out onto the sea in the takeaway café instead of the proper restaurant as the prices did bump up abit in there. Would go there agian, but will try there fish next time. Oh by the way when you go to the toilets you get a big whiff of Fish smell. Other by that a clean café.

I tried this twice in the last 2 days… and really liked the fish not much the chips though… placed strategically on the sea front… a busy place but in the end thought it was worth the wait.

Ich war hier das erste mal in meinem Leben in einem Fish & Chips Restaurant.
Fish & Chips ist ein traditionelles Gericht hier in England. Man bekommt einen Frittierten Fisch mit einer Portion Pommes.
Ich werde wohl prinzipiell kein echter Fan von Fish & Chips werden. Trotzdem waren die speisen gut zubereitet, auch wenn’s nicht meinem Geschmack entspricht.
Die Gäste sind überwiegend Einheimisch, was ausserdem für das Restaurant spricht.
Das Restaurant hat eine super Lage, direkt an der Strandpromenade.
Ich hatte den «Cod» Fish mit Chips, dieser soll geschmacklich die mildere Variante sein. Ich hatte die große Portion, die aber dann doch ein wenig zu groß war.
Meine Kids hatten die Chicken Soup.
Die Suppen Portion ist im Prinzip auch okay, wobei sie einem hungrigen Gast als Hauptspeise sicherlich nicht genügen wird.
Bevor die Speisen kamen, gab es Toastbrot mit Butter. Dazu wurde ein Schälchen Remoulade gereicht.
Der Service war richtig gut, freundlich und flott.
Zum Dessert hatte meine Frau noch einen Käsekuchen (Schoko Variante) bestellt. Dieser war sehr süß, offenbar so wie’s die Engländer mögen.
Der Laden war sauber und ordentlich.
Auch wenn diese art von Essen nicht mein Ding ist, gebe ich gerne Vier Sterne.
Wer auf Fish & Chips steht wird hier glücklich.

We have used this place several times in the hope that it would get better.
The advert on the wall says Harry Ramsden’s probably the best fish and chips in the world.
Well that is if you like poor value for money, black and green bits all over your chips.
Once they were so bad we took them back and showed the staff and they said, yes your right, but didn’t do anything about it!
Fish that is a distant cousin from the real thing, I am sure they shop at Iceland.
We went in the Restaurant once, just as bad. The bread and butter, extra. I had to get a magnifying glass to find the butter on the cheap thin economy bread.
As previous write– ups say, it is location, location, location. If they were in a back street, they would have closed down long ago, through lack of customers.

Located on the bournemouth seafront ideally located for buying your meal and then consuming it on the beach.
Menu is very appealing and prices are not to bad considering the area it is in.
Can also dine inside and tuck into you fish and chip supper.
Look out for bogof free offers within the local paper or tourist attraction booklets.

this place is located on the bournemouh seafront so is easy reah for you to grab a bite to eat and consume on the beach, or if you prefer can eat inside in the restaurant. The prices are abit steep, but well worth paying the extra bit for.

This is quite a pleasant little eat in or take out restaurant, We visited on new years day so was quite quiet!
The fish and chips we’re lovely, although quite a small portion of chips compared to the huge fish. We decided to eat in as it was so cold outside,
The prices aren’t to bad for the location, is ideally situated for the beach in the summer being right on the sea front and just a short walk through the park into the town.

Very suprised at the quality of the fish and chips here. Prices are a little steep as it has a seafront location but great to visit when you get hungry and really want fish and chips. Gets very busy in the summer months, expect to be queuing out of the doors and around the corner. I only visited when it wasnt busy so cant comment on staff service wehn it is busy, but I was served very quickly and the staff were highly attentive. Drinks like the food are a little pricey but hey great fish and chips harry.

We popped in here at the weekend and instead of getting a takeaway as we usually do, we decided to eat in the restaurant. I wasn’t expecting much really, but was pleasently surprised at how nice the restaurant actually was.
The staff were plentiful and helpful, i wasn’t left waiting for service at any point, and the surroundings in the restaurant were very nice indeed.
The food was as we expected, a very good quality as always with harry’s. Very well done to this restaurant right on the seafront in sunny bournemouth!

Harry Ramsdens is a consistently good place to eat fish and chips but there is a formula to minimise the otherwise high cost of such a simple meal. They do it well but charge a premium for the name and in the case of Bournemouth, they charge for the position in the town. It is a natural place to end up after a walk along the beach and it gets too busy to cope at times leading to very long queues of hungry families and a hurry up feeling if you are already eating. We went at 4.15 and had a trouble free meal then paid with a discount voucher !

This is situated right on the seafront next to the pier at the pier approach. There is a large car park but unfortunatlely it gets very busy and you have to pay. The restaurant attracts large crowds of people in the summer season and this effects the quality of your visit. The food is great but quite pricey but you do get a lovely view over the seafront. You can get takeaways as well but again it gets pretty busy in the summer. Not a good location if you need to drive but great if you are staying in a local hotel.

Classic fish and chips in impressive surroundings of panelled walls and chandaliers. Quick and efficient service and tasty food all served in premises overlooking the beach close to Bournemouth Pier. Always popular and never fails to deliver what it promises, i.e. great traditional food.

Gets very busy during peak season. This is not beacause the food is excellent or the service wonderful!
Tourists see a name they recognise & don’t know the area well enough to find somewhere better.
The takeaway food quality is very poor.
The only good thing going for it is that it is right on the seafront.

I think the only reason this place gets so busy is the position (well obviously).
The portions are so small and yet the prices are so expensive and the food wan’t even that great, it was just ok. i also wish the staff could speak a bit better english.
i would highly recommend going to a chippy in boscombe and then driving to boscombe beach as it doesn’t get so busy and you can find a bench.
Rated ²⁄₅ — Amazingly it has no competition in Bournemouth apart from the one nearby to bar so /​sushi place (but that is manky — i would rate that ⁰⁄₅).

Harry ramsdens is set in an idyllic place right on the sea front at Bournemouth. I love sitting here in the evening when you can watch the waves crashing in over the beach. The restaurant is large and spacious with plenty of tables. They are family friendly which helps a lot when deciding on where to eat. The food is obviously all fish and chips but your fish can be cooked in a variety of ways which makes it a good change from just battered if you don’t want it that way.
The prices are average for a good sized portion of fish and chips, with plenty of condiments available to you if you need them.
