Quirky hotel — room was a bit small, but perhaps we should have upgraded. One thing stood out — there were USB ports for charging our electronic devices. What an amazing idea — hopefully this will become standard and avoid having to take lots of adaptors away when you travel.

Just love this hotel, it’s been a regular during my time in Bournemouth A art deco themed hotel, although I’ve never stayed have been told by friends Ms family that do that it’s good value considering location and amenities I use the hotel for a meeting place and also for the restaurant and brasserie — the food is always excellent and the staff very attentive In the Summer, and if it’s nice on. Sunday they often organise«Pool» events with food, a DJ and use of the pool for a set price

I stayed here in March 2009 for two nights. I had a single room which was very small. It was one of the nicer decorated rooms. The Reception and lounges seemed very nicely decorated. Breakfast was a buffet which taasted OK. The position is brilliant. It is right on the sea front and about a ten min walk to town. I would stay in this hotel again but would pay to have a bigger room.

A very grand looking hotel from the outside, situated with a view of Bournemouth Seafront, its well positioned for holiday-makers and business people alike. The lobby is very impressive as is the lounges, dining-rooms, bars etc, with a small pool out the front with loungers. The food is lovely, our gripe was with our room, which was based facing inwards(imagine the hotel as square with a domed area in the middle) staring at pipes, the big dome and really a horrible view. Our room really paled in comparison to the grand outside and everything else we had come across so far in the hotel, a very big negative. On another note, our television, which I know is not a big thing, was about 25+ years old and was on rickety set of legs and wheels, I don’t know where they dug this out. If you get a better room than us then you will love it. Overall 2⁄5

The Cumberland recently renovated all its public rooms. Originally built in the Art Deco style, the hotel was restored to its former glory. The result is stunning, with restaurant, bar and lounges themed in black, silver and red furnishings, faithful to the Art Deco period. The Terrace Bar is decked and is reminiscent of a Miami waterfront hotel. The hotel is well positioned on East Cliff, 10 minutes’ walk from the centre, and is an ideal stopover for business or pleasure.
