The Suncliff

We got a great deal with Expedia for this hotel & for the amount we paid was fab! The carvery was the best ever, the indoor pool is so warm + jacuzzi & good sauna. The restaurant staff were so friendly. It really was a great hotel for the moneybwe paid. I would come again no doubt!

Great location over looking the beach… if of course you get the front! Otherwise you’ll be looking at the air con fans and car park! Worth a phone call a few days before)
Entertainment ok if you are over 70 and just want to sit or square dance to Elvis?!
1^st room offered. tiny, required re-​decoration and toilet roll on floor… Cue the Mrs… we are not staying in here!
After much chatter… miraculously an alternative room became available. This one had been revamped with a slightly loftier view of the car park.
Swimming pool is available via next doors hotel or indoor gym, swim and sauna.
All in all just another dated hotel of the UK. Great location but again understandable why we Brits head abroad. :(

We went here for Sunday Lunch to celebrate my Grandad’s 70^th and for some unknown reason, despite us asking for a table for 15, we were given two separate tables about 10 feet apart. When we questioned this they begrudgingly agreed to move them closer. Not a great start. Then we queued up for the Sunday carvery. Most people were pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. Not me. I’m a vegetarian, which meant I had a plate of carrots, parsnips and cabbage. I chanced the roast potatoes but the stuffing, gravy and main options were all meat based. And my favourite part of a roast, the Yorkshire puds, well they were like cardboard.
The best thing going for the Sun Cliff is its location — on Bournemouth’s beautiful East Cliff. And the staff were polite and friendly but sometimes that just isn’t enough.

The suncliff is in a very good position, but it is much better if you ask for a seafront room, instead of looking over the car park if you are at the back. There is a nice lounge area on the ground floor, and this would prove a good family hotel if there were children in your party. However, one negative thing about the hotel is that the restaurant is situated in the basement, which means it can be quite dark in there when you are eating your meal, as there is not much natural light. Having said that, it is a very nice hotel to stay there.
