A place where we came for a quick and easy Thai fix and that is what we got. I really do want to give this place a higher rating as nothing was bad, but in representing Thai flavours and Thai dishes it really did not meet that standard so I wouldn’t recommend it for a ‘Thai’ restaurant. Like most people have mentioned, prices are a bit deer for the simplicity of the dishes. It was a small dinner so we shared the fish cakes whilst I had the Tom Yum Hed which is the vegetarian version of Tom Yum Soup, primarily consisted of mushrooms. I do love lemongrass in fish cakes and they seem to have got the flavours and seasoning perfect. It was tasty but felt like it had been re-cooked as the skin was too dry and wrinkly and lost a lot of moisture on the top. Usually the better quality ones are slightly more plump, juicy and the skin golden brown instead of dark and thinner. Still it was expected from a simple Thai restaurant and it was good for it’s flavours. The soup was lovely, slightly sweetened to match for Western palate which I preferred whilst still maintaining that strong kick of spice to warm me up. They were generous with the mushrooms which tasted fresh and overall a satisfying appetising start to our meal. For mains we shared a Pad Thai prawn. It tasted like a average Thai takeaway which wasn’t necessarily bad but it lacked the ‘real’ ingredients and tasted quite one noted. Flavours were primarily sweet, slightly sour but could have done with a bit of depth. It was slightly synthetic tasting but they did a good job with getting the flavours and seasoning balanced and was still very edible and enjoyable with the crunchy peanuts and extra lemon on the side for that needed zing to it. Noodles stuck together like they had over cooked the dry rice sticks too long or left it in the heat for too long. Luckily it still had a good bounce. Surprisingly that was all we had as it left us satisfied for what we came in for. Service was very efficient although quiet. It lacked a bit of energy but still they made sure we got our tap water refiled and even handed us lovely complimentary dark chocolate mints with our bill. I did love the décor which made the meal feel more special then it was. It was dark, sexy, chic like décor with the luxurious glitter cushions, feathered lampshades with statues from the Buddha/Taoism religion. The place was clean and all staff were Thai which bought out the authenticity feel to it. To be honest there isn’t much going on in terms of restaurants in the area of Brentford so Fat Boys is a nice addition to have in the area. It’s good for the business for what it is serving as it is a quiet area and any more investment could lead to trouble for the restaurant. Wouldn’t particularly recommend it but if you’re in the area then it’s worth a try.

It standard Thai food. Thankfully I like standard Thai cuisine. Although the competition with the BYOB Thai opened down the road at Kew Bridge is good. The BYOB is a bit of a winner but still use Fat Boys when trekking over to East Brentford is too much.

The food is good here which I suppose is what really matters at a restaurant. Don’t expect much on the service front. The staff is neither friendly nor personable. They do the Thai staples well(pad Thai, Tom yum soups, green curry) Good option for takeout if you live in the area!

Over priced for the quality of food served and the quality of service. Used to be a treat, now avoided.

I’ve lived in the Borough(Hounslow) for a long time and have been coming to this restaurant since I was young. The décor and food have vastly improved over the years, but for the location — I do think it’s a bit pricey. It used to be a B.Y.O, and it’s nice to see that they are now serving alcohol. The staff whilst reasonably polite, do not seem overly concerned with time — our food has often been late and we have to ask for things to be brought out, tables to be cleared etc. I would recommend it, but it’s not the best overall. Good food, a little pricey, customer service a bit hit and miss.

Went for dinner few weeks ago, i work near by and always wanted to go in and try the food. The outdise and inside looks nice, good fast service, however the food is nothing exceptional, i found it standard, not many choices on the menu’ and only few options of teas.

We had dinner at this place which bills itself as «the best Thai food in town,» and we cannot argue with that claim.(Although, to be completely honest, we haven’t been to any other ones!!). For starters, we had Paper Prawn(#9) and Crispy Aromatic Duck(#11). Both were excellent. For dinner, we had the Moo Pad Prik(#41) and the Pad Woon Sen(#62) and, once again,. both were outstanding. This is a terrific restaurant and we would happily go there again.

Fat Boys is a Thai restaurant in Brentford. The décor is pleasant and the lighting is low but the real focus is the food, which is usually very good. They have a range of Thai soups, curries and snacks. The piece de resistance however is the fried ice cream, which is the best I’ve ever tasted. To round it off they give out little chocolate mints wrapped in a Fat Boys wrapper. The service is quick and friendly. The prices are not cheap but not outrageous either. Four of us ate a full meal there for about 70GBP. I just love the name of this place you’ll definitely come out on your way to becoming fat because the food is so good, you’ll stuff yourself! A must visit if you’re in the area.
