The food was pretty good, but not much variety. The servers are pretty annoying, you have to reuse the same plate over and over because they refuse to give you new ones. Also, if there is even a small amount of food in the buffet, like only a piece of chicken in the curry, they don’t give you

The evening buffet only was £8, and the food was slightly below average taste. Rice, naan, pappadum. Curry of chicken. Onion bahdji. No real spice, which was good for me as I don’t like hot. Naan was quite hard.

Randomly walked in for a cheap Indian dinner. Indian buffet for less than 7 pounds, lots of meat and curry and veggies and naan and rice, pretty standard, very good for the price. The owner was very friendly and I was very full. Although it could be better(perhaps with more types of curry and more meat?) but I was satisfied with the price.

I was drawn in by the £4.95 sign outside. I suppose I should have given it more than just a quick glance, because I could have sworn it said for the buffet, which was not that price. In any case I went in and everything looked nice. Unfortunately, that’s where the nice bit ends. The service was very slow, despite the waiter not having much expected of him at a buffet. It took him around ten minutes to bring the simple drinks and we were sat right next to the bar. As for the food itself. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten less satisfying Indian food anywhere in this entire country. The bread was tough and difficult to chew, as was most everything else. The curries were oily and flavourless. The chicken was very tender, but what good is tender chicken if it’s cooked in fæces?! The lamb was like cubes of wood, also soaked in spiceless fæcal oil. The rice was edible but certainly not good. –could have been Uncle Ben’s, honestly. If you have any standards when it comes to the taste of your food, don’t go here. Maybe it’s just the buffet. The regular menu could be alright. I do not know, but I really don’t care to find out after this experience.

Bombay Lounge’s buffet is fantastic — back in my day, it was either 5 or 5.99 which is a steal. I went quite often with friends and even convinced my mom to have dinner here when she visited. That set off a now three-year love affair with Indian food for her. Pretty incredible, considering she’s even pickier than I am.

One windy night, I was randomly craving for Indian curry, so my friends and I ended up at this place. If you saw a group of asians loitering that one fateful night, that was probably us. heh. But that’s beside the point. Initially, since I didn’t want to drop 8 – 9 pounds for the buffet, I wanted to go somewhere else. but in the darkness, the 4.95 special sign glowed like the light at the end of the tunnel. In other words, it enticed me, so in the end, I decided to give it a try. I chose the meat(lamb) curry with naan bread on the side. Let me tell you. It was the best decision of my life. For that day, at least. The naan was huge and fluffy, and the curry was perfect. There was loads of meat, so I got my full serving of meat for the week. Ah, i’d die for some right now, at this moment. Since this was my second time eating legit Indian food, maybe you should take that into consideration when reviewing my review? BUTTHISPLACEISSOGOOD. I dont know about the buffet food, but maybe i’ll come back here during the lunch time, so it’s not as expensive. cheap meals for the win!

First buffet in England I went to! for 7 pounds, it’s aiite. I was debating which buffet to pick, but just decided with this one because it was crowded lol. Got seated right away and started eating because we hungry! Rice felt extra delish because I haven’t had decent rice since I moved into the dorms. Chicken & lamb curry were pretty delish compared to other curries they had. Next time I go, I’ll only get those two curries :). The side dishes were okay. The chicken wings were this magenta color probably because of some indian spice… they were good nonetheless. Naan was good when it was fresh. The other sides, which I can’t name since I don’t know what they’re called(LOL) were quite bland. They’ll most likely just fill you up. The salad bar was quite impressive. This is a pretty good place to get some chicken & lamb curry if you’re into that stuff. Oh, and chicken wings. However, I feel like they use a bit too much msg & possibly more additives(or the spices?) because my mouth is still dry and I am constantly drinking water. I think this is because of the msg. It’s been around 9 hours, but I can still feel it. Not good. Lost a star because of its price(the other indian buffet is 5 pounds), and another because of the msg(I also felt nauseous afterwards, maybe from eating too much? LOL). Decent service. Had to ask for water though. Not sure how sanitary the water & plates/utensils are :\

This place smelled really delicious from the outside. Sadly the food inside didn’t match up. I wasn’t that impressed with the selection and, while the food was palatable, it wasn’t that exciting. I, too, remember the rock-hard onion bhajis. Overall it wasn’t terrible, but I probably won’t go back.

I suppose you get what you pay for at an all-you-can-eat buffet; but after having been to a couple of competitively priced, reasonable quality places locally I had been lulled into a false sense of security. It wasn’t pleasant, oh how I wish I’d popped over to Somerfield for a nice safe, hermetically sealed microwave version. I was gut wrenchly dragged back to reality the following day after a meal here. Although after contemplation, it could have been the wine — the mark up on that clearly wasn’t a give away.

Lamb curry; succulent tender soft pieces of pure meat that meltsin your mouth with the fusion of spiced curry and rich butter. The chicken dish was very similar in terms of texture and taste. The rice was flavoursome but didnt quite hit the spot. The Buffet was maintained fairly well– good salad selection avec sauces too. Theres nothing better than completing a good indian meal with a glass of cold, fresh sweet lassi. Over all food was good, location was central, service was adequate. There is room for improvement but for what it is now, pretty good.

For 7 days a week North Street’s Bombay Lounge chucks out a just about do-able All-You-Can-Eat Indian buffet with a salad bar. We went here one rainy afternoon but were a little disappointed with the selection on offer. While the service and staff was friendly and attentive(well, as attentive as you can be when the customer helps themselves), the food was covered in oil and was sweating in the heated pans. There was more sauce than meat, and the onion bhajis were so hard they could’ve smashed windows if thrown. But, it’s cheap, easy and for some reason, always manages to claw you back after a couple of pints.

Bombay Lounge is an all-you-can-eat Indian Buffet on North Street. I’m not really a big fan of these stuff-your-face-on-mediocre-food type places but as far as they go, this one is OK. On the menu you’ll find chicken wings, poppadums, naan bread and onion bhajis to start, along with a selection of salads and dips which are all actually pretty tasty; this is usually why I have a plate full of starters and sundries and not of a much main course at these places. The main dishes which include lamb, chicken or vegetable curry along with saag aloo and rice aren’t particularly outstanding. In fact, they’re usually pretty bland which is good if you like that sort of thing, but I love curry and like to actually taste it. In terms of pricing, it’ll cost you just over £5 at lunchtime and just under £10 in the evening. Not bad, but much better value for lunch than dinner.

Cheap-yes Good-NO!!! Take 50 jars of Tesco value curry sauce. Chuck a load of bad quality meat in it. Cook for 4 days. Divide into 5 serving dishes. Mix different coloured food colouring into each one. Leave it all under a heat lamp for a week. Now open for business!!! Ate here once, completely unchildfriendly with awful food which all tasted the same-crap. As authentic as Indian food cooked without Indian spices by a dog with no legs. It’s a pity I have to give this review one star to post it

The Bombay Lounge has been doing a mid-week buffet charging £5.50 a head lately, that runs up to 5PM. My friend and I arrived at 4.58, and stayed until just after 6, and they were happy for us to do so, which meant we practically had a dinner at the place. And the food on offer was tremendous quality too, with a couple of different meaty curries, in addition to the vegetarian options and Sag Aloo, with a well stocked salad bar, naan and a few extra additions to bolster the buffet nicely. I’d recommend going earlier in the day though, as although the food was delicious, it was clear that we were the last people to dig into it, before they prepared for the evening surge. The lamb curry in particular was a joy for the taste buds, and comes with my greatest suggestion. My dinner partner still maintains that takeout curry tastes better, but there’s nothing like being submerged in a well presented restaurant, and being presented with such a strong variety of food at such a good price. The Indian equivalent of Me Old China.

I popped here just for a quick late lunch last week, and paid just £11 for two meals(consisting of two buffet trips each). I know the prices go up at the weekend/during the evening, but get there in the week just before 5pm and it’s a great place to fill a hole on a budget. The décor is pretty, with tasteful decorations and big mirrors making the small restaurant feel spacious. The waiters were friendly, and they do a good range of drinks. And, most importantly, the buffet was decent! I’m always a little against serving myself — mainly because I feel like a right pig taking multiple trips and parading my piled up plate past my fellow diners, but also beacuse I find that watching my soon to be dinner slopped out of a bucket by a waiter topping up the buffet ruins the luxury experience of eating out somewhat! But these issues aside, I liked the small range of this buffet — suggesting quality over a Wokmania style quantity. There was just 5 main dishes(with one or two veggie options), with sides and rice, as well and fruit and salad — my favourite was the chicken which was really tender and tasty, though my boyfriend recommends the lamb!

For me, buffet restaurants are the ideal way to eat Indian food. So many tantalising smells, the array of spices… It’s far too difficult to choose just one dish. Thankfully, it’s also unnecessary. Bombay Lounge on North Street offers a fabulous dinner buffet for 8.95. The restaurant is small and cozy, yet elegant, with dim lighting and soft-spoken servers who greet us and find us a table for six. Two table lengths display both meat and vegetarian curries and with a modest salad bar, which satisfies both my vegetarian and carnivorous friends. Other Indian restaurants I’ve been to place limits on naan — one piece per buffet order — but Bombay Lounge includes a tray of naan alongside the other all-you-can-eat dishes. Rice and delicious vegetable pakoras provide more delicious options for carb-lovers. While some Indian restaurants adapt their dishes to western tastes, this one passes the test of my dining mate from Bangladesh. She gleefully joins the rest of us for second helpings. The only downside I notice is the limited section of sweets to end our feast. Rice pudding is the sole option provided tonight, and I feel I’ve had enough rice for the evening. However, it’s probably for the best, as I’m a bit… over-satiated. Bombay Lounge is definitely a recommended choice for meat-eaters and mixed groups, though next time I’m craving curry, I think I’ll try one with more vegetarian options.

Bombay lounge, situated on the ever-bustling north street is popular for its«all you can eat» buffet, which enjoys regular custom especially during lunchtime. This buffet comprises a popular range of Indian dishes from deep fried starters such as samosas and onion bajis to various curries and stews. It also caters to vegetarians as only few plates are based on meat. Considering the low price, I certainly recommend giving the lunch buffet a try. The food quality is quite good for this price range, and there are no complaints regarding the interior and service be they a little«functional». Things are slightly more expensive in the evening, and for the purpose of an intimate and cosy experience there might be more suitable places out there. Still, overall I think the Bombay lounge stands up well against its competitors of which there are plenty in Brighton.
