Fine place. Good chicken tikka as starter. Not actually that expensive + it has deals before 7:15. Better that the place just a few meters in the street.

One of the great advantages is that Noori’s was open until quite late. We poped-in after ten, and we were fully served. Even when we left after 11 pm, it was still quite busy. Good for late eating-outs. To be fair, Noori’s is one of those places, where you’ll get some nice food, but it’s not really special. I’ve ordered the only soup on the menu(tomato-lemon-ginger, something like that, it was really tasty!), a lal jaal curry and vegetable biryani. I’ve asked to make curry with paneer instead of vegetables or chicken, and they agreed which was really pleasing. Food was nice and fresh. Curry wasn’t oily, as usually in other Indian restaurants. I liked the fact that you can agree on everything with staff, and get something slightly different to things on menu. Service was really decent. My friend wasn’t too hungry so he didn’t even touched his curry. The waiter didn’t charge us for that even if we didn’t ask. Prices are not too bad. Curries are a little bit overpriced, but at least they taste nice. Atmosphere is light(I really hate the point of view that eating in the darkness is romantic). The rest is ok, I mean, nothing was really cheap, or ‘scratching’ my eyes. Not too cosy, but still ok.

In all fairness, it’s really 3.5 stars. The food wasn’t hot(temperate) which was disappointing. Prices were fair and the service was average.

We went to Nooris this weekend(August 2012). We found the restaurant by chance and I’m so glad we did. The restaurant was very busy, but we were welcomed warmly and encouraged to wait for 5 to 10 minutes while a table could be cleared. I was a little concerned as there was only two of us and we soon realised that there were two ‘stag’ parties in the place, which usually means lots of noise and lengthy waits for food. But we had a quiet word with one of the waiters and asked politely if he could ensure our order could be catered for before the ‘stags’. We made our food choices and I decided to go for a fish dish for a change. I’m so glad I was a little more adventurousit was so good. 4 large salmon slices in Karai sauce. The rice was perfectly cooked and the house wine and beer was spot on. We also ordered various side dishes, poppadoms, naan etc. We expected the bill to reflect the food and drinks i.e. not expensive, but reasonably pricedWe couldn’t believe how reasonable though and this had the tip included. We’ll definitely go back to Noori’s on our return visit to Brighton.

I visited this restaurant with my wife and friend’s. Our starter a main Shashliek was a sizzler but not properly cooked. The curries served were of poor quality the prawns about ten shrimps! were lost in a sea of curry. As for the men’s toilets they needed a visit from a health inspector and we were told to use the ladies. All in all we won’t be going back as three of us had slight after effects the following morning after visiting this restaurant. On a positive note the staff were friendly and service was good

I spent a considerable amount of time trying to find a suitable indian restaurant to suit both myself(veggie) and a friend(carnivore) not too far from Brighton station. Finally settled on this place after reading the reviews. Well it is quite literally the worst curry I’ve ever eaten. I’d even rate it lower than when we went to that one at the marina, which had a hair in it. I had a vegetable kurma, try to imagine bland kurma sauce watered down combined with mushy vegetables… I think those frozen ones. You know, where the carrots look like pellets. I suppose I should see the funny side but when the bill came it wasn’t that humorous — £7 for that rubbish? Oh plus a glass of wine, the rice(about £3), a charge for the papadums&pickles we didn’t ask for and then compulsory service charge… ended up at £20 each. You have got to be joking. Though I admit we were laughing about how bad it was, along with the terrible service, when the table next to us said they were so glad we thought it was awful too. We enjoyed comparing curries, their«jalfrezi» looked like road kill. Just wish I went to Shahi Tandoori as usual! :o) Delicious and lower prices than they deserve, in my opinion! So if you read this after thinking ‘oh i’ll give it a go etc etc’ well that’s what I thought and I just wished I’d listened to those on Qype…

I have eaten here a few times now and have always had a good meal. Feels reasonably authentic and the staff are friendly and attentive. Food is well priced although the compulsory service charge is always a little annoying. I had the lamb laal jaal which was very tasty and there is a good selection of pickles provided with the popadoms although you do have to pay extra for these.

Noori’s is a lovely little Indian restaurant in the Lanes, tucked away by Hotel du Vin and the Old Ship. It is quite hard to stumble across, but a worthy excursion point: the food is excellent, if a little Anglicised: this isn’t traditional Indian food, but there’s nothing wrong with that. Apart from that, the whole set-up seems to scream posh-Indian, although the prices and food really don’t reflect that: a real mixed bag, this place. Noori’s is a bit of a confusing evening out: everything seems to be incongruous. However, from a really basic perspective, Noori’s does serve very nice food. The curries aren’t too hot, the selection is pretty standard, but expansive, and it all tastes great. Living in Brighton, there are plenty of places that claim to give you authentic Indian cuisine: Noori’s is much more your standard British-Indian fare. As such, it is uneventful, if perfectly lovely dining. Apart from the food, Noori’s is otherwise a little confusing. The space to sit down is quite big, yet often empty: probably because it’s so hard to find. The décor is faux-glam: you might feel underdressed when you first enter, but then realise that no one else there has dressed up, and I doubt anyone ever has to come here. Also, apart from the look of Noori’s, little really says«glamorous». All in all, it’s a rather peculiar dining experience: give it a try, but don’t expect the world from Noori’s: it’s not the best, nor the most authentic Indian experience in Brighton.

Nooris is one of my favourite places to go for curry in Brighton. It’s strange to read the bad reviews below, as I’ve always found the food to be lovely and the service to be excellent. All I can think is that it must have significantly improved in two years! Of course, this is a curry house, so don’t expect beautiful, gourmet Indian cuisine it’s the standard of a very good takeaway that you can enjoy in a really pleasant environment. In fact, my one and only gripe is that their onion bhaji portions are far too small. But that’s probably just me being greedy. The attentive staff greet you at the door and show you to your table then, as soon as you sit down, a plate of poppadums along with a tray full of Indian dips and pickles appear in front of you. The rest of the service is just as fast and efficient. What I really like about the place is that it’s a good size and the tables are well spaced out, so you always feel like there’s a good distance between you and the next table. I hate feeling crowded when I’m eating, which is often the case in too many city centre restaurants. If you like your Indian takeaway-style grub and friendly service, then I don’t see how Nooris can disappoint.

I went to Noori’s with my boyfriend for Valentine’s day last year. We wanted Indian food and Noori’s is one of the few Indian restaurants in the center of Brighton. It actually turned out be a bit of a disaster– we totally underestimated how long it would take the Valentine’s day crowd to hit the restaurants and ended up eating pretty much just the two of us in a large restaurant. The décor is quite glitzy and formal– although the prices are average Indian restaurant prices– so we just felt stiff and uncomfortable. It’s bit unfair to judge it on that basis alone so I will add that the service was excellent… not sure what it would be like when it’s full but they were very attentive to us! The food I remember was nice but not obviously not spectacular because I have very little memory of any of it except the peshwari nan– a favorite of mine– which was giant and delicious. I would say– go along, but try to pick a busy night and time otherwise it’s all a bit echoey and formal.

Now, when most people say things like«trust me on this, I’ve been to India,» you assume you’re about to read some power trip-infused travel snobbery of a review, aimed at making people feel like they are far less distinguished and are simply not deemed worthy to make a qualified assessment. …If only I could muster up such review venom. In actual fact, when I start this review by saying«trust me on this, I’ve been to India,» I finish the sentence by saying: «…where I caught the worst case of Delhi-belly known to man and prayed to the porcelain gods for an entire week. Thus causing me not to be able to enjoy your average curry, nan, or lentil until recently; for obvious(and disgustingly visual and olfactory) reasons. Thus any Indian restaurant where I am able to not only stomach the food, but devour it in such a haphazard manner as to draw attention by the surrounding tables, it’s gonna be some dang good Indian food. This tucked away Indian mecca was recommended by my Florida loving, southern Indian food despising, taxi driving chef, from(you guessed it,) India. He did not lead me astray! Probably the best Indian meal I’ve had in the UK, and that’s some seriously power trip-infused travel snobbery reviewing for ya.

Might be in a great location but not up to standards! My partner and I made an £50 ordermight seem a lot but I was very hungry. December time so it was freezing and the restaurant didn’t have any heating where we was sitting! So my poor lady found it sooo cold and couldn’t enjoy her meal. I was so disappointed with the food. It was very standard and nothing special. Prawn Puri and Bindi Bhaji(ladies fingers) was so bland no taste at all. I had higher expectations as I’ve explored most of Brighton’s top restaurants and take-aways and this one HADTOBETHEWORST! I found out that the food they produce is pre-cooked. For example, the sauces: madras, vindaloo and mossalla etc is cooked and left in the fridge. Then any Tom Dick and Harry can come and add the right amount of meat piecesmix it up and serve it! I’m used to going to restaurants who have proper chefswho know good food, how to deliver and would eat it themselves! This restaurant used to be good once upon a time I’m sure but it’s all about mass production nowright?! If I could give no stars out of 5 I would! What a shamble!

This is in a great location, very close to all the major pubs and bars in and around the lanes in brighton. However I found its not that great on the food and service, it could be because it was a friday night at 10pm. Good prices though, and I normally prefer my food to be a little bit hotter

This is one of Brightons longest open Indian restaurants. Lot of unusal dishes to choose from. A well loved vegetarian menu. Excellent breads and side dishes. £6.95 for a two course meal or £9.95 for a three course with wine!
