This place reminds me of a restaurant you’d find in an old school casino. The kind with the illuminated spinning cake stand(actually they have one), burgundy patterned carpets, and 80s songs playing. Aside from being a bit of a time machine, this unassuming beachfront restaurant offers affordable seafood at really great prices. «Affordable» and«seafood» can be a bit of a risk but they execute well here. My bf and I shared the fresh fish platter with potatoes, along with a few starters: scallops, king prawns and a dozen oysters. They don’t fancy it up with a bunch of unnecessary garnish — just plain old good seafood with generous portions! No frills. And there are plenty of outdoor tables so if you catch Brighton on a sunny day, you’ll have a beachfront view. Free wifi.

Nice little fish restaurant with friendly stuff. Nothing really special, but good quality for a fair price.

We treat ourselves with a walk along the Brighton seafront and then go for the best fish and chips in Brighton. Oysters and champagne on birthdays :-)

If your a fish lover then Melrose is s must, it a seafood restaurant serving fresh fish straight off the boat. Its views its menu, views of the seafront and dated décor make it reminiscent of dining in a budget Mediterranean holiday, but in a good way. Its also incredibly reasonably priced considering the quality of produce, you can nab a main for as little as £6.

This is a nice little place to grab some nice fresh seafood and the owners/staff are always so friendly always happy to talk you through the menu. They basically get their fish straight from the boats at Shoreham Docks just down the seafront so it is full of flavour. I know its a bit of a cop out but last time I ate here I had their fish and chips and it was fantastic. Extremely nice piece of haddock and the chips were really nice and light and fluffy. Sit back, relax and enjoy the views of the seafront with your food.

If your a foody and you love seafood the Melrose is a must if you’re dining in Brighton. Itson the seafront and can look a bit run down from the exterior but inside you’ll find a traditional British restaurant serving fresh fish dishes straight off the boat. Its reasonably priced unlike a lot of similar establishments in Brighton and you can get a main for around 6 squid! They have regular special due to the freshness of the produce so its worth checking the boards. If your not into your fish they also do steaks with gorgeous seasoning.

Great restaurant for the seafood fan. Mains from £11 — £20 and a good choice of starters including Oysters(6 or 12 — always go for 12!), Crab and Lobster. I had a main of Dover Sole(16) and it was delicious. The only down side was the place is a bit drab and could do with a bit of modernising however the food is quality and the staff very friendly. Being on the seafront, you can have a seat facing the sea(I’m sure that old trick always makes fish tatse better).

This is a really odd little restaurant — but you can’t fail to be charmed by it. Eating in there is like stepping back to the 70’s. The tables are laid with place mats and food is served in seventies stainless steel serving trays. A new pine bar has been installed in the last couple of years which admittedly brings this section of the restaurant into the 80’s. Aside from the décor(which I actually like I hasten to add) the food is absoultely fantastic and so much cheaper that some more pretentious fish restaurants in the town. A full shellfish platter for two(including a whole lobster and a whole crab) is around £45. And it is delicious. Or you can go for the more traditional fish and chips. If you have room after there is a wide selection of(really old fashioned) deserts. The staff are lovely and make you feel so welcome. The views out to the sea are unrivaled. Definitely earns it’s 5 stars in my book !

I love this place ! It’s so dated it’s almost cheesy ! Where else can you go and stll be offered a sweet trolley ? In all seriousness the fresh seafood is fantastic and of fantastic value. The service is warm and friendly. Go on a rainy sunday afternoon and watch the waves crash whilst you eat one of their delicious whole lobsters ! An eating experience not to be missed.
