Loooove this place! Wish there was one in America. I’d definitely be fat if there was one close by. They have a great and creative selection. And everything I’ve had here has been mind blowingly delicious. I guess it helps they already have better candy in Europe. I only studied abroad here for 2 months but already got a few free shakes from their punch card, a good & bad thing I guess. Customer service is always great & friendly as well!

The formula is pretty simple BUTAWESOME. anything you can imagine(or pick of a giant menu) blended and put into a milkshake. I opted for apple pie(a whole slice!) and peanut butter — which was pretty life changing. Good value and a great hangover cure. We went in a big group and none of us could get over how spaced out and not-with-it the staff were — no one seemed to know what they were doing. Luckily blending stuff together is pretty simple so we EVENTUALLY left with shakes in hand

I’m not entirely sure what possessed me to go to Shakeaway on the first day of the summer holidays! As most local people will know, at any given time, this place is absolutely HEAVING with tweenagers, desperate to get their sweety fix. I was pretty hot and fancied something different to Bubble Tea, so I went for a Gold Bar Shake. That’s right — Gold Bar. That weird Caramelly biscuit thing that I love so much, mixed with ice cream and milk. Heaven right? Wrong. I was so disappointed. It just tasted like cheap ice cream with milk, and nowhere near enough Gold Bar! I could have asked for more but that would have come at a price! It was only afterwards I realised you could have soya milk and ice cream for an extra £1.50(what!?) I’ll stick with my bubble tea for now, thanks!

I remember when this store opened in where I used to live, in London… As a teenager, I wasn’t fussed about it, but I recall friends acting as if it was the best thing since sliced bread. It’s really not! I think this store mainly appeals to kids and late teenagers, or mums who give into their whiny kids and use it to help cure their aggressive outburst for a sugar fix. If you walk in, it actually looks like it could be brilliant, but actually the quality — from my experiences is pretty shocking! The staff who have served me, have always been a bit rude, not taken their job seriously, nor seem like they could be bothered to speak to me or be there! It’s over priced for what it is, to be honest… I could easily pick up any of those ingredients, get a tub of vanilla icecream and milk and use a blender. There isn’t anything authentic about it, it’s merely convenient, yet it lacks substance and quality. I feel as if the shop has no personality to it. It’s a brand that is forgettable! I’d quite honesty, rather have a McDonalds milkshake! — that’s saying something!!! Anyway, don’t bother, it’s a waste of time and bother!

Absolutely disgusting. The shakes were poorly made and tasted awful. It was like drinking milky flavored water. I’m not sure if it is just a British thing, but milkshakes are supposed to be much thicker than that. We threw away our shakes without finishing them. Will not go again.

I adore Shakeaway. They have loads of non-dairy/vegan options and its incredibly tasty. Really, what more do you need?

I absolutely adore this place! I went in with a friend since she had a two for one coupon. I got the Dave, which had Ferrero Rocher and Kinder Bueno mixed in with ice cream. I got extra ice cream to make it thicker and it was heavenly! It completely satisfied my sugar craving that I had for days. It wasn’t too busy when we went in, but after ten minutes, the queue was out the door. Maybe you just need to time it right to make sure you don’t wait too long. The long wait probably helps newcomers because their menu is extensive. There’s not much seating inside and I can see how the place can get crowded during the summer. But just grab your milkshake and walk around Their menu is perfect for vegetarians and vegans too. I can’t wait to go back and try different milkshakes.

I love milkshake — it was one of my not so bizarre pregnancy cravings, and one I haven’t Shaken off. But! I find it almost impossible to get served in here! Maybe I still have the impatience of a heavily pregnant woman, despite those days being long gone but, blimey — nothing’s worth that long a wait! I always try to go out of the traditionally busy times — half term, summer hols etc, but I’ve still never manged to get seen to(as it were!) in under 15 minutes. They are also very pricey, particularly for the large portions, or the specials. Sadly, I usually end up getting a cheapo Yahoo shake from the newsagent round the corner. If you CAN get served, or have the patience of Job, they are truly scrumptious, with a mind boggling choice of flavours. For me though, I literally do shake away…

I love this place. I was introduced to it about 6 years ago and any time a friend comes to visit I will always tempt them into this place. There is a wall covered in trays of ingredients and above those trays; lists upon lists of potential combinations and more ingredients. Some of which you would not have thought to put in a milkshake like grapefruit, or tic tacs. However the variety of options available is truly unique to this place. It is a little on the pricey side: £2.80 for regular, £3.60 for large with just one ingredient, with every additional ingredient costing more. I find it hard to order a milkshake with just one ingredient in it. I think tears will be shed when I lose my 10% student discount for this place! Given the prices, if you are in the mood for something simple then you can probably get something similar from somewhere else a lot cheaper. Yet if you are feeling adventurous, or even want a hot drink with a twist(Nutella hot chocolate is all kinds of yum!), then Shakeaway is the place to go. I also love the brightly coloured cups with fabulous spoon straws, in case you want anything on top of your milkshake that a straw can’t manage! Also, beware on sunny days and weekends, the queues can get quite crazily long. Although it can be interesting to hear other people’s combinations ahead of you, they could think of something spectacular that you never thought of. p. s. A little bit of advice… be careful taking indecisive friends into this place, it’s completely possible you could finish your milkshake by the time they make up their minds!

Yum!!! I ordered the Ferrero shake, and it tasted exactly like it. I also got to try the ameretti shake as well from my friend, and if you like Almond, try it! I wish there is a ShakeAway where I live now. Basically, this place uses candy bars, cookies, cereal, and dessert, and they create a milkshake for you! ShakeAway is pretty unique b/c the employees who work there put up their favorite creations on the menu board so customers can order their creations as well.

If someone had come up to me 10 years ago and asked if I’d fancy investing in a milkshake shop in Bighton I think I would’ve told them where to go, via business school. This place though is an absolute goldmine! Every lunchtime whether in the week or weekend, there’s people cueing out of the door. Good for them I say as its a very good idea. There’s so much to choose from in here but I have a huge chocolate addiction(especially Cadburys) so usually go for the Cadbury’s Caramel shake. Once in a while its orth treating yourself to something this nice!

I like milkshakes: who doesn’t? Apart from losers, or the lactose intolerant, who at least have a valid excuse, everyone likes milkshakes, and Shakeaway plays right into that obvious market, providing tasty milkshakes with anything you can imagine blended in. Yes, anything: even Flying Saucers, and that’s just wrong. Yep, milkshakes with sweets mixed into them: you can make your perfect milkshake after a couple tries, and you’ll be very happy with the result, as it’s all your favourite stuff! The set-up here is perfect for the finicky, which means even die-hard cynics like me can find something that they like. The only problems here, apart from the sweetness overload(it’s all overly sweet, nothing you can really do about that), are the prices and the queues. I won’t go into the prices again(simply: Brighton is expensive), and the queues are just indicative of it’s success. In this case, the crowd are going to the right place: join the queue and create your favourite milkshake!

There are just so many flavors here, that there’s equal opportunity for you to create something so right, or to create something so wrong. A Ferrero Rocher Milkshake? That’s so right. A Wheetabix Milkshake? That’s… umm… no… But ShakeAway gives you the opportunity to create whatever Milkshake you desire. You are left to your imagination, and are left to wonder whether a Crunchie Chocolate Bar and Kinder Bueno Milkshake would taste good(it sure sounds delicious). There are just so many flavors for you to pick and choose, that it’s no wonder why this place is consistently busy.

This place has become a bit of a Brighton institution. With over 160 varieties of milkshake, you can pick and choose from a mind-boggling selection of sweets, chocolate bars, biscuits and even Weetabix to be chucked in and whisked up into a marvellous sugar-fest of a milkshake. Heaving on summer weekends, with queues of milkshake adventurers stretching out onto Bond Street, ignore your dentists’ advice and concoct a sickly sweet surprise from £2.70 for the regular size or if you’re feeling particularly brave, step it up a gear and go for the large, priced at £3.70. You can have your milkshake hot or cold, with anything from Nutella, peanut butter, bakewell tart, Skittles, Wham Bars, Haribo Star Mix, and even Tic Tacs, Horlicks and Ovaltine, although I think I’ll leave the more extreme taste-testing to the professional ShakeAwayers. The straws come with spoons on the end so you can scoop up all the lumpy goodness at the bottom. A friend of mine recommends a simple vanilla milkshake with crushed Dime Bars for a healthy dose of diabetes.

Shakeaway’s popularity is ever-evident. The queues on Saturdays stretch out onto the street, and even on weekdays, there’s always a bit of a wait. The concept is simple and fabulous: just about any type of milkshake you can think of, all in one place and made up fresh. It’s almost food in many cases. Flavours include an array of different chocolate bars, biscuits, even cereals. There’s even(although I can’t say I’m too tempted to try it) a Farley’s rusk flavour. You can make up your own combinations for a little extra cash, and students get a 10% discount.

I know it’s a chain, but Shakeaway’s will always hold a place in my heart as one of the places that gave me that ‘ooo isn’t Brighton kookie!’ feeling when I first moved to town. There’s plenty to choose from, including soya milk/ice cream options. And in terms of flavour you’ll find plenty to satisfy — jaffa cakes, chocolate brownie, oreo, terry’s chocolate orange, rasberries and lemon drizzle cake being a few I’ve tried over the years! There are all the basic choc/fruit options too if you fancy something more simple. I wonder if anyone ever orders Weetabix though? Only downer is the popularity — the staff work like machines but still expect a ten minute wait at the weekend.

GENIUS! They try to imitate it but they can never dupilcate it. In my opinion, no trip to Brighton is complete without a trip to Shakeaway and I’ve NEVER seen this place empty. Endless combinations of milkshakes. Seriously, think of any crazy combination of sweet/savory/fruit/veg and the lovely people of Shakeaway will make it happen. Not only that but they listen to their customers. Want a dairy free milkshake? Vegan friendly? Sure! Watching those calories? No problem! Allergic to nuts or gluten intolerant? No worries my friends, Shakeaway have your back. Previously limited to 5 stores nationwide. Shakeaways are popping up all over the gaff and not only in the UK. They’re now global with shops in Australia and Cyprus(random :s). Go get your shake on!

Endless combinations and a wide array of the most sugary sweets, chocolates and fruit that can be put into a blender make Shake Away, Brighton’s ultimate milkshake shop a unique and hip addition to the old fashion sweet shops. Situated just at the end of North Laine, Shake Away’s main staple item, the milkshake can be served hot or cold with any sweet or treat that you fancy. Shake Away even has organic soymilk for our vegan friends. With a board full of items to choose from one might find it hard to decided whether or not to add the extra Cadbury Cream Egg or flaky to their creation, but that is all part of the fun and experience. Milkshakes range from £2−5 depending on size and extras will cost you an additional 70p. Shake Away also offers helpful suggestions for the different combinations that have been named after the people that invented them. The Carolyn would be Coconut, Nutella and marshmallow served hot! It would be easy to go overboard with the amount of extras that can be added, but be smart and know that cake or biscuits would be hard to get through a straw! Shake Away lets the customer be creative, and even serves up Skittles and All Sorts for the ultimate sweet tooth. This is a fantastic tourist and local attraction that will have customers coming back with new and amazing ideas for their milkshakes. Maybe just pass on the All Sorts! Visit Shake Away at

Ice-cream and hot fudge sauce go together wonderfully. Ice-cream and tic-tacs though sounds like a disaster. As does ice-cream and weetabix. ice-cream and chocolate pop tart. Ice-cream and haribo star-mix. Ice-cream and sugar puffs. And ice-cream and parma violets. For some reason though, people queue up in summer and winter to drink these concoctions. I tried the ice-cream and aero milkshake once and was so appalled, I disposed of it a few minutes later. In short, I love ice-cream milk-shakes. I don’t love Shake Away and their ‘reinvention’ of the milk-shake.

I lovvvvvve Shakeaway. I mean, seriously, ice cream + sweets = milkshake? Yeahhh! Coolest idea ever. This is quite simply one of the most awesome fast food places I’ve ever been to. You turn up, walk in, and they have this whole host of the nicest sweets ever created on the planet lined up at the side for you to choose from. All the classics. Hersheys Cookies and Cream, Kit Kat, Skittles — everything! All you do is pick one, or two — or three if you’re feeling greedy!-, choose to have either a small or a large, and then there’ll take your ingredients, put them in a blender, and make you the nicest milkshake you’ve ever tasted! I particularly recommend a large Hersheys Cookies and Cream with Custard Creams, because it is quite simply exquisite!
