I have 2 pairs of glasses, one with my new prescription, and one with an incredibly old prescription. As my glasses with the new prescription hurt my face (they’re much too tight), and my old glasses fit just fine, I decided to see if I could get my new prescription in my old frames.
The representatives were tremendously friendly. As soon as I wandered in, I was greeted with a smile and a: «How can I help you?» I described my simple situation to them, and they took my frames and examined them. They quoted me on a price (which was much less than I expected), and I received my frames with my updated prescription in the same day. Just great fast, quick and friendly service from the folks here.

Giving Specsavers 5*s was a tough one, as it’s hard to praise a high street supergiant whose success seems to be at the expense of smaller independent opticians’ businesses. In fact the family run Somerset optician’s I’ve used since I was a kid has recently shut up shop and, you guessed it, a Specsavers is due to move in.
However, I had a such a positive experience when I headed here, that I’m gonna attempt to rate this giant company on the Brighton branch alone. The optician herself was very friendly and helpful, as were the staff who helped me choose/​fit the glasses. The prices were good — at the time I was still a student which gave me a whopping 30% off! And I loved the photo machine that allowed you to see yourself in the various glasses. But, prices and gimmicks aside, the jolly staff mean that I’ll probably go back.

Having spent many hours recently trawling the opticians of Brighton for a cheap pair of frames that wouldn’t leave me looking like Deirdre Barlow it actually came as a surprise to me that Specsavers came up trumps.
If it’s designer frames you want (which I didn’t) then they possibly don’t have quite the same range as some of their competitors — but for simple cheap frames then definitely try here.
Unlike other optitians they don’t (or weren’t when I was looking) sell off overpriced frames by promoting them in 2 for 1 offers. Instead they just charge you for the one pair you want.
Frames were delivered promptly. I’ll definitely be back.
