Based on their breakfasts only as I have not tried their lunch yet; delicious coffee but sub-par breakfasts consisting of pre-made poached eggs and«chorizo» which is just crispy bacon. Not really good value for your money. Lovely staff though.

I wish that I lived near a Friska so that I could eat there whenever I wanted, which no doubt would be nearly every day because the food is so delicious, healthy, sustainable, affordable, fast, and staffed by very friendly and helpful people. HIGHLY recommended. This is a place to fold into the fabric of your daily routine.

While in Bristol for work I thought I’d venture out a a little bit further than the hotel breakfast room. With the Café on the square having recently closed, I searched for a decent Breakfast on Unilocal and found Friska. Being maybe 10 minutes walk from the harbour, it was more than worth the walk there and with friendly staff, decent décor and quick and speedy service — I definitely made the right choice. A really inventive and exciting breakfast menu — bacon with avocado toastie, cinnamon porridge and flat white for me, it also looks like they have some tasty lunch time options such as Phở and steamed pork buns. Great music here too — Alt J, QOTSA, Sigur Ros, Justice vs Simian — the perfect way to start the day!

One of the biggest things to happen during the noughties and now into the… tennies(?), has been the push for customers to purchase and enjoy locally sourced produce and healthier meals, which is great for Friska because this is exactly what they do! Occasionally I like to treat myself to something for lunch that hasn’t been brought from home, although I do make pretty good sandwiches, and a few weeks ago I went to the Friska website and pre-ordered quite a tasty pasta dish with a lot of yummy veggies. The guys at Friska offer up quite a wide ranging menu both on the website and an even bigger one in the shop. This is deffiently a place worth checking out for some great fresh food!

Every time I go past this place, a friendly young chap(sometimes there’s a girl instead) catches my eye and offers me lots of very nice things like fresh soup of the day and other such free samples. The insinuation that I look like a bum aside, this was a brilliant ploy to lure me inside for a further look. Yes, I tried to play it cool and rinse them for their free food each morning, but eventually their sweet smiles get to to you and you feel like you really should go on a mini breakfast spree inside. Thus, I was treated to some of the finest porridge I’ve had the great fortune to taste — perfect for those winter mornings on the way to Temple Meads, and healthy, too. And that’s exactly what this place specialises in — healthy, feel good food. You won’t regret a trip here.

A relativly recentley newly opened business, Friska is keen to promote ‘feel good food’. Once they have become established in bristol they hope to sell feel good food accross the UK. All there food is ethically sourced, and they have a menu that changes with the seasons which means they are able to buy alot of locally grown and produced products. It also means there is a constant diversity of food which is brilliant. On the website they also spoke about a schools project they have promoting healthy eating and lifestyle which can only be a good thing. You can pre-oder food for the local delivery service. All in all Friska gives off as great vibe, has top notch food and drink and eveyone inside is very friendly!
