Brockenhurst is a railway station serving the village of Brockenhurst in Hampshire, England. It is located on the South Western Main Line from London Waterloo to Weymouth. It is also the junction of the Lymington Branch Line with the main line. The station was winner of the 2009 National Rail Award for best medium-sized station, with the judges stating they«were impressed by the standard of customer service, station presentation, initiative and innovation they observed, all of which ensure that the station provides a smooth, efficient and pleasant departure and arrival point for the travelling customer».

Amazingly for what is basically just a village in the middle of the New Forest, you can get pretty much anywhere by train directly from Brockenhurst Railway Station! Situated on the main South West Trains line from London Waterloo to Weymouth, the shops and attractions of Southampton and Bournemouth are within easy reach, and the regular ‘old fashioned’ slam door trains to and from Lymington are great for locals and tourists alike. Regular direct Cross Country services to the Midlands, the North and Scotland are a real plus point. The station itself is a bit tired, but there are plenty of staff on hand to help and on the whole they are friendly and knowledgeable. The reason I haven’t given the station 5 stars is simply because there is little or no disabled access(only one of the platforms is accessible via a ‘swinging’ platform across the track), and as a parent with young children, getting a buggy up and down two sets of steps is not easy.
