Girls night with good food. Only issue was being shooed out because there were people who needed our table.

A fellow American who travels to Cambridge for work brought us(other Americans in Cambridge for the weekend). We ordered a bottle of wine, they didn’t have the one we wanted but I was very pleased with the substitute red they offered. Nice flavor, low price. Wish I wrote the name of it We started with homous, checkachouka and bourak. All were very good but the bourak really stood out to me. The filling is like kibbeh but the pastry thinner and thus, you get more of the filling flavor than the fried breading. Since I’d never had Algerian before, I went with the Mixed Grill(brochettes casbah). Lamb, chicken, kafta, merguez and a cutlet. Yum! And they did not skimp on the portions at all. This was a large plate. I’m not always a merguez fan but I really enjoyed it here. And the lamb. We finished our wine and meals(left food on the plates) and opted for some dessert. One plate of baklava Kadayif with vanilla ice cream to share for the four of us. I love baklava and this did not disappoint. Oh and I love the fact it’s a family owned and operated restaurant. One son was managing that evening. Another son came in to work(maybe a bit late…). Keeping it in the family really keeps it authentic and part of the community. On the tight squeeze, it is a very tight squeeze. I wouldn’t be opposed to clearing out one table so we could breathe a little easier… All in all though, really great place. As someone who lives in London, I found the prices quite reasonable. I would definitely come back when in Cambridge.

This place has amazing food and the portions are great; large just the way I like them unlike most UK restaurants. Food gets prepared very fast too and you don’t wait too long. I’ll definitely be back here!

Went here a couple of months ago with friends and we did book and as others have stated it is cramped but the food was good we had the mixed starters and the house special tagienes which were very good, and the baklava to finish with all washed down with the house red. But be warned they only accept cash no cards at all lucky we had enough cash just to cover the bill, but we went a few doors down for the mint tea and the Hubble bubble pipe in a small café

Food was actually not too bad but it was OK for me because it was a bit on the pricey side and service a bit lacking. The lighting was a bit too dark but I liked the décor. Overall it was a good dining experience. I may go back but not very often.

Delicious. The only dish we didn’t fight over was the liver, but if that’s not on you palate don’t hold that against Al Cashbah. The staff and services were decent, but not to die for. The feel of the restaurant is unique and I liked that as well. The three of us walked out of there with three mains, one appetizer and one bottle of wine for 65GBP. No credit cards so be careful!

I went here with two friends on a Tuesday night. I had the Brochettes Constantinoise, a really tasty dish with a yogurt sauce. I like a lot of flavor and thought the herds and yogurt sauce were really good together. One friend got the lamb skewers and thought it was great. The other friend got the mixed grill and thought it was dry and bland.

Marinated meats cooked over an open wood charcoal BBQ plus assorted sides. Good portions, and very nicely balanced meals. Can be packed most any night during the dinner rush, but a bit earlier or a bit later and you can usually get a small group in with no problem.

I wouldn’t describe this place as a «African-y» type of place, but then again, what do I know? Cuisine-wise, it seemed very similar to Middle Eastern cuisine: lots of things like hummus, kebabs, olives, etc. Tasty food and friendly service, and I especially liked how you can see them grill your kebabs over a hot BBQ thing and that it is open late! Cute décor inside, too. However, food was not incredible by any means. About £11−15 per main dish, which seems like the high end of what I would be willing to pay for this kind of food.

Went here on a first date, and it was quite good. The food was extremely flavorful: we shared the special meze appetizer, and I had the Brochettes d’Agneau Ain-Taya as my main course. I’d highly recommend both of those things. We shared the baklava for dessert, which was also tasty, and mint tea. The alcohol selection might have been more varied, though: I ended up having a glass of house red(seemingly the only red they had by the glass), and it wasn’t bad for house, especially given the low price. I’m docking one star because the layout is problematic. We were seated in the middle of the room, and the waiters kept bumping into our table as they went by to serve other tables. The tables themselves are fairly small and shake easily — not the best if you enjoy your personal space or like to gesture animatedly while you talk. But on the whole, a solid Mill Road offering — I’ll be back.

For those who love North African cuisine, Al Casbah is arguably the best in Cambridge! The food was delicious(especially the eggplant and yogurt sauce), the tent draped over the dinning room was romantic, the clientèle were international, and the atmosphere was exciting. Yes, it might be a little pricey for the location but worth it. I highly recommend this restaurant. Enjoy:)

It was a bit pricey, but the food was fairly good. Not a great selection of beers. We waited for a ridiculously long time, and the dining area is CRAMPED! I mean elbow to elbow cramped. Maybe on less busy nights the ambiance is better, but we went on a Saturday and it was unbearably cramped. The service was good, if a bit obnoxious. I was with 2 female friends and the waiter was shamelessly hitting on them. We were there to eat, not to satisfy the waiter’s libido.

It’s pricey but delicious. Make sure to get reservations because I didn’t the first time I came here and waited around 45 min for a table for two. Once you sit down though, you really can’t go wrong with anything on their menu – I should hope not, at that price!

One of the top two best places I’ve eaten in Cambridge, in terms of food. With beer and appetizers included it always comes out to around 20 pounds per person which is a bit pricey and the place is pretty cramped, but all in all it’s worth the trip every time. Also be ready to wait a while once you’re sitting because the service can be kind of slow at times. But hey, in Cambridge, I take what I can get! I recommend either of the Special Tagines(I’ve had the red and white one and they are both delicious). Make sure to book in advance!
