First note: there doesn’t seem to be a sign labeled Café Brazil anywhere, it has a different name, which escapes me at the moment, but just look for the address and a vaguely Brazilian theme. I received some sort of stew that I picked out by looking at a display case in the counter. Thankfully the stew came out from somewhere in the kitchen and not the display case, which looked a little old and sad. The stew was hearty and decent. My review is low because of what I observed while eating. The waitress seems to have a system to deal with the many black flies swarming around the espresso machine. She puts the ‘clean’ mugs and dishes on top of the machine, then she puts a blanket on top of all of the mugs and dishes, and then the flies sit on top of the blanket. When she needs a dish, she lifts up the blanket and pulls out a mug. The flies jump up into the air and then settle back down. One big happy family. Just not one I would like to visit again.

I love this place! Excellent coffee, large sofas, large place, what’s not to like? Update: The new Costa Coffee across the road from Café Brazil seems to really be having an effect on trade. I’ve heard customers(of which there aren’t many) and the staff all comment about this. I do wish they would fight to survive. SO far I’ve only seen them shut the place thru late Dec and early Jan, and they are using downstairs to exhibit art, and completley close the café! NOO! CB, offer at least as much as Costa: turn your heaters on, get rid of that condensation on the windows, redorate the place in something appealing, recover those dirty sofas, keep those toilets clean, offer free wifi… …and then offer more than Costa, you are bigger, so have more big comfy sofas, offer table service, maybe have a TV, use upstairs for varous functions, have books, upstairs could have live music in the evenings, in fact open late, etc etc etc. You have several advantages over Costa, and Nadi is very popular, so don’t go down without a fight! :-)
