Great atmosphere and pretty unique pig-themed décor. Very small, which kind of adds to the appeal but can make it difficult to find space.

This is a favorite starting spot for my friends and me. It’s a bit of a dive of a pub… old posters EVERYWHERE, pretty dark… but they’ve got a big selection and always have good chill music from jazzie pieces to ninties rock. There’s a beer garden in the back and I can’t wait until it’s nice enough to use it.

This is certainly one of the best pubs in Cambridge — it has that indefinable ‘Good Pub’ aura… Good beer; interesting music; great pub food(Bacon sandwich on white with chips is my top choice). It’s not near anything else great(maybe botanic gardens) so it’s either a special trip from town centre(about 15 mins walk) or to or from the train station. The Flying Pig ‘vortex’ has entered the lexicon in my office — you go accross for one beer after work and — woah –it’s late and you’re in trouble at home …

This is my favourite pub in Cambridge. I only wish it opened a bit earlier in the day!(6pm on a Saturday) It feels cosy and the décor is very cool and interesting(plenty of pig paraphernalia(rather like a room I once woke up in. but that is another story!)). Add to that the serving of a few ales(good enough to ensure its regular place in the Good Beer Guide) and you have the recipe for a good evening. It’s also really near the station, so if you are not local, that’s a plus. Would be a great place to finish your day in Cambridge! And the name is awesome isn’t it?

Can you guess the theme of this pub? I’ll give you a hint, it’s part of the name! It was a cool spot for me to hang out and enjoy live music and play a couple games of billiards. I thought it was hysterical that there are so many Pig decors in this pub. From posters to toys and everything in between, Porky starts to grow on you and you almost consider turning into a vegetarian, until you realized you are completely pissed and need some greasy bacon to cure your hangover the next morning.

Okay, if I’m finally getting to review in the UK after 2 years of waiting where do I start? How about the pub at the end of my street? YESSS Because my local is amazing. Truly. It’s got strange live music, a pool table, a beer garden, free newspapers, a small but decent selection of beers, seating on the street, bar billiards(sometimes) and… thousands of pigs. That’s right — this dark but warm little pub is brimful of random pig toys, pig posters and pig sculptures. It adds a unique atmosphere to an already well-known atmospheric pub. Being only about 20 houses away, you can trust me that this is a true local gem. After 5 on most nights you’ll find this place packed with drinkers who can’t be bothered to go home just yet or catch the train home to the villages. Even if it’s near-freezing out you’ll still see us taking our beers out and sitting on the grass by the BBC next door so that the smokers can smoke away. And on a hot summer night — it’s just perfect. No need to go home until I get thrown out.

Lovely pub near the leisure centre and almost a little secret in Cambridge. It is very comfy definitely one of the proper old english pubs. They even manage to squeeze in an outdoor area in the backyard where it is quite nice in summer time.
