Tonight’s experience was distinctly underwhelming. Food was poor, drinks were luke warm and service was harassed. Oh and the back room was so hot that it was liking sitting in a sauna. Disappointing on all levels.

I’m living in the UK for 4 months and this was my first time to a Pizza Express. I love pizza, and order it often. This was probably the worst pizza I’ve ever had at a restaurant. We ordered two«thin and crispy» Romana pies — the Padana Leggera(spinach, onions, and goat cheese) and the Pomodoro Pesto. The pizza was thin alright — and completely soggy/floppy. It didn’t hold any form and you had to fold it over itself or wrap it like a tube to eat it. The service was mediocre to poor. I will not be going back to a Pizza Express again.

I love the Pizza Express menu — the Padana Leggera is delicious(goats cheese, caramelized onion and spinach on a thin non-greasy base — perfect!). This branch of Pizza Express is my favorite because of the lovely staff. I always end up chatting to them and they don’t make you feel rushed. Last week I asked about nuts in the puddings(allergic) and they told the chefs to be *even* more careful — this is much better to hear than the usual ‘we cannot guarantee anything on the menu is nut free’ which I often hear in Pizza restaurants. Well done.

I just don’t get it with Pizza Express! It seems to be a popular choice and the number of outlets in the UK confirm that. However, everytime I go(I’ve been there 3 times becuase of friends’ choice) and pay over £20.00 for a pretty average pasta I feel didn’t get a good deal. I give it 2 stars because I do enjoy the pizzas they sell in the UK supermarkets.

For a Pizza Express, which normally gets 2 stars from me, this is a good branch. I found the service here to be a little ‘matey’(but friendly I suppose). The interior is indeed beautiful. Terrible wine selection and mediocre food as expected. If you like Pizza Express, then you should most definitely pay this place a visit. If, like me, you are lukewarm about it, then I still wouldn’t rule it out as the atmosphere is lovely and they appear to also have live music from time to time. Either way, forget the other Pizza Express on Regent Street which doesn’t compare to this one.

I love Pizza Express even though it’s a chain. It’s a bit pricey, but for the most part you know what to expect. This particular location is a bit hidden. I think I was looking for their usual big glass windows and blue sign, but it’s in a nicer building. The main dining area is like an old school ballroom. In the back, there’s a more swanky club room… It reminds me of a place where men would go sit by the fire and smoke cigars. I would go back to this location.

This is the best Pizza Express I’ve been to décor wise — for chain restaurants, it doesn’t get better than this. Lovely place to eat. The food is pretty much the same as any other pizza express though. Worth one visit just to see the place, but don’t expect extraordinary food.

I love pizza express, even though they’re overpriced. The service is always great, and I love the pizza selections(though my only issue is that the center of the dough gets a bit soggy… but I guess you can’t fix that with thin crust). I love this location in particular because it’s beautiful. I had a birthday party in the back dining room and fell in love.

One of the better chain restaurants in Cambridge(no mean feat, as most are fairly mediocre !), you pretty much know what you are getting as far as food and drink go. What makes this place special — as most people seem to have noted — is the wonderful setting; one room is full of mirrors and marble, another is an old oak-panelled library. Good service too.

Families have cottoned on to the child-friendliness of this Pizza Express, which is therefore usually heaving with small persons on weekend lunchtimes and early evenings. The enterprising management have packed the tables in, so don’t stop by if you’re unwilling to engage with the next table’s toddler. But the venue — the old Pitt Club, with its ballroom and grand piano intact — is a cracker, so channel the bambino-loving Mediterranean, dose up on olives and Valpolicella, and go with the flow.

In addition to all the comments above — with which I whole-heartedly agree — this is also an excellent place for children’s parties. My 6-year-old had her birthday party here with 8 friends plus her 2-year-old brother and they all thoroughly enjoyed it. Starting at 11am on a Sunday, they donned chefs hats and pinnies and made their own pizzas, which when then cooked for them. Juice and ice-cream followed and much fun was had by all. This is probably suitable for kids aged 6 — early teens and the cost was a reasonable £10 per child.

This Pizza Express is well worth a visit. Yes, it is a chain pizza place — but the food is good quality and very tasty, so the fact you know what you are getting is no bad thing. However, Pizza Express seem to like to go for unusual locations, and this one is one of the best. The restaurant feels very grand, what with the piano in the welcoming bar area, and then the 2 different style eating areas — one is a conservatory type place, the other a cosy(if huge) oak panelled library type room. They have different atmospheres, but they’re both great. You can’t book(or couldn’t when I was last there), which can be a downside — however it also means you can get in here if you’ve forgotten, say, to book somewhere for Valentine’s Day and everywhere else is booked out, and still get a nice atmosphere and good food.

If you go here try and get into the Oak room, wonderful panelled surroundings, the other section is more open plan and quite noisy as it is modern with glass and marble and so a lot of echo. Every time I have been here I have had excellent service and as a semi treat I fully recommend it.

Everyone knows what a Pizza Express is like don’t they? I am a big fan of their Tuna and Mushroom pizza .It is what I dream about when I’m on a diet! We didn’t know this branch. Well the food in the Cambridge Pizza express was just like every other but I want to write about the particularly helpful waitress we had. I was with a party of children, fussy, noisy and needing the toilet at different times throughout the meal and we were probably a waitress’s worst nightmare .I don’t know your name I’m afraid but thankyou for being great with the kids, changing the food, picking up food and generally doing what a first class waitress should do. A rarity! Thankyou again.

This is a great place to catch up with friends — but don’t expect a quiet venue. It’s got a great atmosphere — very continental, bustling with energy and life. The food is wonderful, well prepared home cooked pizzas, or pasta and with a delicious selection of salads and their amazing Pizza Express dressing! Great night for all ages.

This is the flagship Pizza Express, and you can see why — previously part of the gentlemen’s club, the ‘Pitt Club’ it has a classical façade and a gorgeous library room and foyer with a grand piano. Food-wise, it’s very much a chain, and very popular with families for a weekend lunch. I’ve dined here many times, and usually the service has been good and the standard of food good, but once I went with my mum and she found a piece of glass in her pizza. Yes, glass! And we only got the pizza free! So be careful.

This is Pizza Express, but not as you know it: a branch of the ubiquitous pizza chain(there’s another branch on Regent St in Cambridge) that is housed in a building that looks like a replica Greek temple(apparently the former premises of an exclusive university club). The premises lend it a unique atmosphere: the main part of the restaurant is located in the former library, a double-height oak pannelled room. It’s a very impressive sight, but one can feel slightly at odds tucking into a pizza in such splendid surroundings. In that case there are some more tables available in a more traditional décor to the side. The menu is the same as in any other branch, so expect nibbly things for starters — try the doughballs with garlic butter to share! — followed by pizzas, some rather industrial looking Italian classic dishes or substantial meal salads as a main course. Of the salads the chicken and goat’s cheese one comes particularly recommended. The pizzas are small but perfectly formed, there’s not too much topping or cheese, but that’s the way I like it. You might want to order a side salad and/or dessert to last to the next meal though, making Pizza Express not a particularly cheap option for a meal out. The wine list is not bad, but, again, it could be cheaper Speaking of desserts, there’s a great selection of cakes and ice creram sundaes, but I’ve got a soft spot for the legendary cheesecake served with cream, ice cream or a big fat dollop of mascarpone. Give me that and an espresso and I’ll leave happy every time The branch can get very busy, especially at the weekend, so book ahead — or maybe try the other(quieter) branch. The food’s the same, even if the surroundings aren’t quite as impressive.

Lovley branch of Pizza express. There are two rooms here, one in an old libary type setting, which is lovely, and one in a conservatory setting, which can get noisy but is still nice all the same. Service here is fantastic, they will do all they can for you. Pizzas of course are delicious, as is their starters and pasta dishes, desserts are lovely too. Great value for money and no surprises of the bad kind!

Have enjoyed many a meal here in this beautiful setting. Usually a special occasion as the place lends it to such an event. From what I remember the ‘library’ room hosts a grand piano and the whole place has quite an opulent feel for a pizza restaurant!!! And what is better it costs just the same as any other pizza express, but the setting is more like the Ritz!!! It has an ever changing menu as with most pizza Express but hosting the favourites too I tried the Buffalita which my sister called a salad on a plate but is was scrumptious. Mainly flat bread base with tomato, basil, pesto, rocket and rock salt with shavings of parmesan, and I was told recently that if you ask for it they will still make it for you!!!

This is a typical pizza express with regards to the food so you know what to expect on that front, but the restaurant itself is something different. From a ‘subtle’ exterior you enter into what appears to be an extremely large privite library. This is worth a look due to its history, the building used to belong to a highly exclusive Cambridge Society that can boast members that have gone on to occupy the highest places in the government(including PM) and industry. However the society came into financial problems and had to sell off its ground floor, the rest of the building still belongs to the elusive society…
