A great pub in an excellent riverside location. Good menu — I can only vouch for the vegetarian options but they were tasty and nicely presented. One of the best pubs for lunch in the area.

Great food and warm friendly service, very enjoyable for our group lunch. Also nice location, probably worth checking out in summer as it has an outside grass area along the river.

My sister just moved to Cambridge, and I thank Jesus, Mary and Joseph that she did. The reason? The Plough Inn. Bloody delicious food. Everything we tried was amazing — the roasts(meat and veggie), the cheeses, the artisan breads, olives, Asian dishes. And the desserts? Jeez. Too good. And you can enjoy your meal in the most beautiful setting, along the river. Can’t wait for summer, so can sip a Pimms and dine outside. Already planning the next trip to visit the Plough(oh, and to see my sister too, eh)! :P

This is a «hidden» gem, for the people thinking Cambridge ends where the Cam meets Midsummer common. The property and garden end right in the Cam, and with tables all the way down to the waters edge, this really is the place for a summers eve. the pub itself is also really cozy and well done — altogether a place that makes you feel at home. the food was great. I had an absolutely excellent steak, lamb and ale pie with the most puffy top I have ever had. My company had the sticky chicken and was also more than satisfied. However while the food really is among the top pub meals I have had in Cambridge, this place is as much its settings!

My favourite pub in Cambridge. Just a great ambience on a sunny day sitting next to the river, but also cosy and great food inside. The staff is super-friendly and I’ve never been disappointed when I came here. Love it!

Trying out a new pub and this was a find. I enjoyed a delicious plate of crispy pan fried sea bass served with olives, tomatoes, potato gnocchi and some tasty tapenade with a glass of crisp, chilled white wine. A simple, delightful supper. Well done to the Plough… definitely one to tell my friends about.

After a lovely walk along the river we stopped off at The Plough for Sunday lunch. Good menu. We opted for the roasts platter. Delicious traditional Sunday roast. Very busy so we ate in the bar area which was absolutely fine. But I’d advise booking if you know this is where you want to eat. Service was competent and staff pretty friendly.

Great views of the river, perfect on a summers day, unfortunately ifor me it was a rainy April day! The pub itself us very typical of a modern gastro-pub in it’s décor & inviting menu. They mixed it up with some classics like pies, fish n chips, steaks, burgers, slow roast pork belly, shoulder of lamb & a selection of fish such as sea trout, seabass & salmon. I was only here for a quick lunch & ordered slow roast belly of pork with ginger glaze, mash, green beans, black pudding & apple fritter. Service was a bit slow waiting nearly 30mins for my food, but I must say it was throughly enjoyable. I wouldn’t hesitate to come here again if I was in the area!

As a local who has been a regular at this pub for many years I was exceptionally dissapointed after taking my family there for what should have been a very special mothers day this year. The food used to be wonderful and I was horrified at the state of the roast dinners we were served. The yorkshire puddings, meat and potatoes were inedible, there was hardly anything on our plates and the service was truly awful due to the pub being full and understaffed. I am very sad to see such a beautiful pub go downhill to this extreme but I can safely say I and none of my family will be returning.

Situated 2 miles out of the centre of Cambridge the Plough offers a relaxing change to the hustle and bustle of city life. With the recently renovated bar area and revamped menu the Plough caters for all of the family. The river Cam runs along the bottom of the garden and it is a lovely place to sit with a cool glass of pimms. If you are there at the right time the rowers will pass you by. There is ample car parking and outdoor seating. The staff are friendly and this pub boasts a good selection of beverages. Prices are higher than your average bar food menu, but the quality of the food exceeds expectations. A great summertime location, and equally as nice inside in the winter.

I haven’t been there for ages but the last time I went, a couple of years ago, I was pretty disappointed(a feeling I’d come away with in the past). Why? The location is stunning — an old timber pub near the River Cam — but the food was really below average and the service appalling. I would, however, really recommend The Plough in Coton(not related at all to this one) — which is fantastic. As I said, this was a few years ago. Hopefully the food and service have improved!

We bought some friends here for dinner as it’s in a lovely location, right on the cam and very homely. Unfortunately I’ve had bad service both times we visited. On one occasion we were kept waiting for food for an hour and a half with no explanation why, admittedly this was on a Saturday night though, but didn’t give our friends a good impression of the place. I haven’t visited since the refurbishments so hopefully this has improved now.

A little way out from Cambridge center this pub makes a great place to make a sunday walk to for lunch. Not only is it cheap, but the food is good and generous too. If you plan ahead it is well worth making a trip here to watch the bumps races at the end of the lent term(Lents) and at the end of easter term(Mays). You can enjoy your best drink while watching the crème de le crème of Cambridge’s oarsmen battle it out right in front of you while you dangle you feet in the Cam to cool off.

If you love going out for Sunday lunch then this is a great place to visit. On a Sunday for around a tenner you can sit and have a Roast beef dinner with all the trimmings. The price is worth it as the location is right by the riverside. In the Summer you can sip your wine on a picnic bench by the river and in the winter you can sit inside by the small fire and eat your roast dinner. The Plough Inn was reoppened this year after a refurb and I think the improvements have made it fantasitc they now have a large patio area for the summer and the woodern floors and tasteful colours really make it a place to visit. If you do not want a big meal you can sit by the bar or outside and try some of the many reasonably priced bar snacks they have on offer. All in all a great place to go for celebrating a special occasion or treating yourself to a nice meal.
