The Granta

The pub offers nice views, charming décor and standard pub food. It’s a little pricey for the area but the food is consistently good and was served quickly. If you’re in the area and what a nice, simple, sit-​down meal then it’s a good choice.

So according to the catagories here on qype this is a pub and a dentists? Well I suppose I can see how that might work and I guess you would make a huge saving on anesthetic. There is also boating and punting? Well I just saw a pub myself… and it wasn’t even properly open. Due to a power failure it was closed up. I do feel a bit bad giving it a low rating but can’t justify giving it any more, given the circumstances.
They were trying to make the best of it by serving gradually warming bottled beverages from a table outside. The wasps certainly seemed to like it. This meant you could stay for a drink, but beyond that the lack of toilets would drive you away. Shame as the location and view are rather pleasant to say the least!

this pub is famous for its view and the accociated punting and it is hard to find a seat when there is nice weather in summer time. It is definitely worth a visit although I have never been that impressed by the food. It seems to be very generic food and they seem to run out of things a lot. One Sunday we got there and they had run out of chips and Salad which i found really weird.

Located on the other side of the city, give the serene impression often longed for sometimes. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, make Granta a place to relax for a good old beer and pub grub in winter. However, it is a different story altogether in summer. Tourist make the area as busy as you can imagine, this is mainly due to the surrounding and the various event and activities going on close by. This is mainly punting, if you have been to Cambridge or live here, you will know that punting is a fun past time of most people.
The Granta is close to the river and it offers seats by the river where you can watch the sparkling reflection of the water, swans gliding across the river gracefully and punters going about their business. The view is just amazing.
The building of the Granta is spectacular; it is has a funny shape with high walls and a glass conservatory below. The inside is as interesting as the exterior features, regal design, pillars and balcony. The food served is the usual pub grub, generous portion of chips, salad, jackets and pies.
Pizza is served out of kitchen hours, and you can have this for take away.
It is a great place to be in winter and an even better place in summer.
I could sit all day and just capture the beautiful image of the cam river. Excellent.

This is one of my favourite weekend lunch locations when its all lovely and sunny outside. The food is of a good standard, and a wide range is available. There is even a punt hire facility availble, and so a pretty idyllic stretch of river to gaze out at if you’re feeling a bit lazy.
Location-​wise its a bit out of town and there is only limited parking nearby. It would be a good stop off during a tour of the colleges
