Rowdy, no-frills place in town, not pretending to be anything it’s not. Expect cheap food and drink all day and the crowd to match. The particularly critical reviews were perhaps expecting something different.

Large converted cinema of Art Deco era with the usual Weatherspoons conversion and the usual W menu but other than that I found it rather poor. Service was poor and the food poorly cooked. I usually think W is great for food and drink but this W is the exception.

This place is amazing. The prices are so great compared to everywhere else in the city, the bartenders I’ve spoken to have been quite nice, and there’s always room for you even if you’re in a large group. The bathrooms are gorgeous and the whole place is just like a casino. There is a lot of variety on the food menu, although frankly none of it is healthy, but at least they have kcal counts next to the menu item names, which is quite helpful. Definitely my favorite place here.

The Regal is a friendly, well-cleaned establishment, and serves a variety of food and beverages, most often at a sickeningly low price. I first discovered this pub a couple years ago. Being the bourgeois man that I am, «The Regal» sounded to me like a nice place to stop with my friend for a pint, without having to constantly deflect jealous stares from the proletariat under-class which infect most every place I go. The seating is comfortable, and there are three floors to choose from, with comfortable booths. The only real downside to this pub is that they seem to allow inferior people in, and this is a problem for everyone, once they become bothersome. An example of such happened to me and two of my cohorts last week: We were enjoying a meal and a pint of ale each, when I looked up to notice an old Jimmy Saville-esque man giving us all an evil, unblinking glare. When he hadn’t stopped after two minutes, I lifted the tankard to my mouth, and drank slowly, returning a stare so venomous that Richard Ramirez himself would have cowered with fear. However, after approximately 10 minutes of this exchange, he was still looking back at us, and clearly hadn’t submitted to our superior dominance. I had but one last resort. I stood up from my seat and approached the cur slowly, never breaking eye contact. He swiftly put on his jacket and exited the establishment through the back door. The battle was won, and we could finally drink in peace.

It’s a pub, and I have to say it’s wasn’t awful. The service is good, friendly :) Location — Is good and central. The food isn’t bad. — It’s okay. So a meh… Unfortunately for the regal, Cambridge has so much more to offer, that it really needs to up it’s game! –I probably wouldn’t eat here again, because it’s so close to some amazing food places.

Cheap pints, really good meal deals on their club nights(the best curries are the chicken korma and flaming dragon were the tastiest we’ve tried). A nice break from the higher prices you’ll pay elsewhere, but in the end you’re supporting a chain rather than a small pub owner. So do with that information what you will.

One of my absolute favorite places to go out to for a night on the town. Loved how they would serve us vodka red bulls by the pitchers. I have had the food here before, the lamb shank to be exact. It was great tasted amazing and was cooked very well. Large areas to dance or stand and just hang out. It gets loud at night with the music and crowds but it is always a fun experience.

One of my favorite spots during my study abroad experience! During my time there they had a special for steak, one side order, and a drink on Tuesdays. All the beer on tap were relatively cheap considering the currency exchange rate with the states. Besides that, the dj and dance floor always kept the mood up during ‘college’ night and I wouldn’t expect anything less if I’m ever in the area again!

The Wetherspoon chain absolutely never disappoints, and The Regal is another child of the brand that shined! Not all Wetherspoons have couches, and luckily this one did! It is a very comfortable seating situation when you have parties of six to be able to sit on couches around a table. We relaxed there for hours and no one cared! The microbrews on tap are mostly around 2.50, very reasonably priced. The others on tap are the mainstream brands and the prices are great as well. The burger and a beer deal is always a go-to. You get a burger of choice and a beer of choice(within a selection) for under 6 pounds! It’s magical. There are gambling machines upstairs and downstairs it looks like they were preparing a dance floor. The bathroom is super clean and the doors have locks on them, which more than many restaurants in the UK can say for themselves. Whether you want a restaurant feel, casino vibe, classic pub environment, or just a chill café-style experience; this place has got it all. It’s truly enormous. Enjoy The Regal. Feel like a king.

The good: relatively cheap drinks, no cover the two times I went, no enforced dress code(they let me in in shorts, after Fez and Lola Lo wouldn’t), lots of people. The bad: VERYLOUD(my ears are still ringing from last night), dance floor can get too crowded(as in everyone’s grinding on two people whether they want to or not).

IT’S A WETHERSPOONS — you know what to expect. ‘cept I think it’s the biggest pub in the UK, or something. There used to be a very nice central light feature — a distinct DNA shape. Unfortunately that was lost in a makeover last year. Anyway, there’s always a good variety of real ales on offer. And a pint’s still a reasonable price. And curry night’s curry night!(Thursday). What more do you need? Music? nah, none of that — IT’S A WETHERSPOONS And a popular place it is too!

First off yes it is a weatherspoon! this is the cheapest place to eat or drink in cambs, the dishes aint great but theres lots off them(dont ask for rare mix grill they loook at you like an alien) but if your looking for a cheap night out with friends this is the place. it has a massive dance floor with many weekly events(its a student dream) not really much more to say but for a weathers its not bad and plenty of room

You can’t usually go far wrong with a Wetherspoons pub when it comes to cheap and cheerful meals, or cheap deals on drink, but service can be slow. It’s absolutely huge, and there’s lots of different seating areas. It’s the perfect place to begin a boozy night out … so avoid at weekends if you want a quiet drink.

Hmmm … Not sure I’d trust someone who was writing a review based on «awesome times» the guy had there in 1999. Ummm … dude, times have a-changed, my friend. The Regal is no longer the apparently happenin’ place it was during the Clinton administration. (Ahem.) Now, for a more current perspective, The Regal is an ok place to grab a bite or a pint on a stopover to or from somewhere else. In other words, it’s a pit stop, not a destination. Prices are reasonable(and, in fact, slightly lower than other places on Regent Street), ambience is a bit lacking, but they do have free Wi-Fi, which is cool. And they have nice, soft, comfortable couches. Stay away from the steak special on Mondays.

Wow. Now I don’t usually like spoons but this one blew my mind. It has the standard cheap drinks but it also provides a decent sized dance floor and DJ. This is the ultimate club, cheap, lots of seating and banging tunes. I can’t really falt this place at all, I can’t even complain about the people in it as this places seems to buck the tred of most spoos being chav hangouts by being full of smart looking youngsters. Very much a place to start and end your night.

I had some awesome times at the Regal. I remember when they first opened in 1999 when I was studying abroad. Since it was the largest, latest and greatest pub in Cambridge at the time, my friends and I would go there and enjoy pints a few times a week. We would run into so many people from other study abroad programs or meet cool locals from the surrounding villages. An what great convenience being located a few blocks from the bus terminal. I loved the large space. So many areas to lounge, like the first floor with the large bar, or the second floor which was a bit more intimate, or even the patio on the second level. Always a great crowd and a lot of hot women everywhere. I hope that hasn’t changed. Prices seemed reasonable for Cambridge but the food wasn’t the greatest. Other pubs along the street had much better pub food, but it doesn’t matter, you’re at the Regal to be seen, and to enjoy their large assortment of beers on tap.

The pub has cheap drinks, loads of space(known to be the biggest JD Wetherspoons in the country) and outdoor space. Can be really busy in the evening and weekends.
