Deep in the heart of Grangetown, this basic but generally cheery doctor’s surgery is slightly run down and not outwardly very inviting. In fairness, though, it manages the main tasks required of a surgery with minimal fuss. With two reception windows housed in the one building, it can be confusing for patients to remember which hatch is the correct one for them. But once you’ve negotiated that trial and sat in the almost always busy waiting room, the doctors themselves are friendly and reassuring. It can represent a chore to get through on the phone sometimes to book an appointment, although that seems to be rather par for the course for many surgeries in Cardiff. There is one upside once you’re out of the building, however: only a few streets from the River Taff, a relaxing post-appointment stroll down its banks is a compensatory tonic if your ailment is only a minor one.
