Great food, service and atmosphere. Great for my first time to Pizza Express. Would recommend for an easy going, casual night out with friends.

Really very pleasantly surprised by a visit the other week to Pizza Express in Cardiff Bay… a self-confessed pizza snob, I was expecting a decidedly average and doughy ‘chain’ pizza, which wasn’t at all what I got! … I even tried the Romana Pomodoro Pesto(and I’m even more of a pesto snob than I am a pizza snob!)… Thin and, for me, perfectly cooked base with good quality ingredients… the ‘pesto’ looks like it’s some kind of pesto butter, but it’s to be forgiven as part of a pretty good all round package… .Sat outside and service was a little sluggish, but otherwise surprisingly well done. And I never thought I’d be writing that about this chain!

I’m not sure why you would go to a Pizza Express when there are plenty of other Italian restaurants available. My pasta was only so-so and definitely not quite worth the price I had to pay for it. All-in-all the meal wasn’t bad and the ambience was fine but it just felt like we could have gone to another(proper) Italian place and got better food for the same price.

Cannot go wrong here. My friend and I absolutely love this place. The pizza’s are amazing and the desserts are just delish! Great value for money, especially if you can pick up one of their vouchers. The staff are always friendly and so helpful. And its in a great location down Cardiff Bay, its really nice if they seat you by the windows so you can look out and admire the views while your waiting for your food!

There’s not much I can say about this Pizza Express that hasn’t been offered already, other than the fact you can catch live jazz at this particular location on Sunday evenings(it’s worth giving them a call to confirm as the frequency varies). So you can enjoy your dough balls amid the music of a very talented jazz trio — it beats burgers at nearby GBK any day, I think. Even better, you can use those 2−4−1 vouchers on Sundays, enabling you to gobble a reasonably priced meal and listen to live music for under £10 per person. Not a bad way to end the weekend, if you ask me. Live music aside, I think this is the best Pizza Express in town, as the service is always friendly, and the views of the Bay trump any you’d get in the St Mary Street or St David’s 2 locations.

While there are many places in Cardiff Bay to get a decent taste of Italy, the king of pizzas is undoubtedly Pizza Express. With a brand name that gives it an advantage over lesser known local restaurants, Pizza Express usually attracts a lot of custom from those seeking a venue to satisfy their pizza cravings. With a name like Pizza Express, it is to be expected that there will be a wide variety of doughy dishes available; luckily, they do not disappoint. Ranging from the basic Margherita to more complex options such as the Gustosa(prosciutto cotto ham, light mozzarella, portobello mushroom, yellow and thyme), Pizza Express has every pizza option imaginable and will surely please even the fussiest of diners. They even offer lighter options, where each pizza has a fresh salad replacing the centre of the dough, which is great piece of mind for those who are on a diet or counting calories. The restaurant itself is quite a large space filled with tables that are, more often than not, packed with happy customers. They have also recently introduced a takeaway option for those who want to enjoy a great tasting pizza at home without having to use typical options such as Dominos or Pizza Hut. Pizza Express is the ideal place to indulge in a great tasting pizza in the heart of Cardiff Bay.

In one of the prime locations on the corner of Roald Dahl Plas in Cardiff Bay, giving great views out across the water in Summer, Pizza Express is a very nice restaurant with a good standard menu. At busy times it can feel a bit crowded as the tables are possibly a bit too close together, but on a Monday or Tuesday night it’s a lovely cosy little spot. Some of the more unusual menu items are worth checking out, and it’s good to see a pizza menu which goes a little bit beyond the normal ‘meat feast’, ‘pepperoni’, ‘Hawaiian’ and so on. The standard menu is a little expensive but there are always all sorts of different money-off and discount vouchers to be found on Pizza Express’s web site and in other places such as Tesco Clubcard deals, meaning that if you play your voucher cards right you can end up eating on the cheap too.

Pizza express is a chain of restaurants that most people have heard of and that most people have been to before. So why am I reviewing it I hear you ask. Well… not only is this particular reataurant situated in the beautiful surroundings of Cardiff Bay. It also has a lovely feel to it and serves great food by great people. On a sunny day they open the glass doors and seat people outside. Also at the minute if you google Pizza Express there are so many websites offering 2 for 1 vouchers. I suggest you get hold of one of these before you go, as when the bill is that much smaller it makes the food taste that much better. I can recommend most of the menu but in particular give the Tricolore a go from the starters menu and the Il Padrino a go from the mains. Happy dining!

Pizza Express have the perfect location in the bay area, it has a high visibility on the corner of a street with a circular design to the windows that unique, every one who visits the bay has to pass by, you can’t help but go there. There a lot of competition from other pizzerias but the location makes the difference at street level with ample indoor seating and out door patio. You’ll find the pizzas taste great but nothing to write home about and the service is swift. The pricing is inexpensive and I would choose them over a Pizza Hut any day.

I know its a chain so you probably think if you’ve been to one you been to them all. No so. I have been to a few and this one by location, design and food beats many of the others including the city centre branch. You can’t book so you will often have to queue but it won’t be for long and the wait is worth it. On a summers day they can open up ¼ of the restaurant to let even more light in to its bright, airy and circular structure. So having bigged this place up I have to mention 2 the occasions(out of a dozen times I’ve been there) that we were not entirely happy. The first was when the manager took ages to seat us even though the restaurant was seemingly half empty. And the second time was on a bank holiday and we had to complain about the state on the toilets not something you would thing would be a problem in a place like this. Overall though, even if you’re not a fan of chain restaurants, this is worth an exception.

This is a very cosy and a relaxing environment where delicious food is served and which is cooked with great delicacy and creativity. To inspire your imagination and to attract all of your five senses that will properly explode with shiver down your spine in sight of the wonderful Chefs cooking the pizzas right on view. As a very hot sizzling fire crackles away inside the unique cooker that you see heat up the pizzas there and then, right on view for everyone to see, who sits in there restaurant. You can see the cooks creating the pizza on the work tops there as well… It certainly makes this pizza restaurant more unique a place of atmosphere than any others in Cardiff to visit. The employees that do work there are very welcoming and friendly. You can order more than just pizzas there such as Lasagne and a fair few more meal options as well. I recommend this place to all especially to all pizza fans! This particular restaurant is situated down in Cardiff Bay.

This is my all time favourite Pizza Express. Its got everything, the views are great, the atmosphere is perfect and the service is always top class. Its always busy so we often have to wait, especially on Wednesday when it’s hard to resist the Orange 2 for 1 deal. But also there are usually other deals too if you go to their web page. There’s nothing better that good food, except for cheaper good food. They seem to expect the busyness so they have a little seated area to wait which is nice. My prepared pizza is a Padano with chicken and they do it so well here that I never get bored of it. I wish Pizza wasn’t so full of fat because I would eat here all the time. I’ve never had a salad, but even they look great! And the wine is really good too.

Not that I’m cheap, but there has been a recession and all that don’t you know… Pizza Express offer a 2 for 1 special on wednesdays through Orange. Just print off a voucher from the website and voila Pizza for cheaper(say it, it rolls of the tongue nicely). With the Odeon just behind it at the Red Dragon centre, you can have nice little night out with the loved one for about £20 The Bay’s view is beautiful, It’s situated right by the corner of the bay and oversee’s the Millennium centre, National assembly and the water. The décor inside is very modern and gives the place a real expensive feel as the brooding black marble and dark wood decorates the restaurant through out. Food-wise you can’t really go wrong here, thinner bases and fresh ingredients make all the difference in fine dining. Calabrese is new to the menu and my current fave there to recommend to you. Be careful though, it’s hotter than a game of Twister with the cast from Hollyoaks!

This Pizza Express is in a great position, with views overlooking Cardiff Bay. The pizzas are a bit expensive but definitely worth it as they taste divine. Service is good and staff are very pleasant. Cardiff Bay is ideal for a day out and a meal at pizza express rounds it off!

One of the busiest restaurant in cardiff bay. fantastic pizza in a good friendly atmosphere. Children are catered for and even given little activities to keep them occupied. The service and sometimes be slow but it is often worth it. Booking is strongly advised. Disabled access is good but there is no obvious near by parking.

The location of this restaurant is what makes it stand out from the crowd. Its huge windows look out across Cardiff Bay. I can happily spend hours people-watching here, while at the same time enjoying a great meal. The food is consistently good and the staff are good humoured and attentive. Children do not phase them and this restaurant is used by both families and single people. The Pizza Express menu is the same across all its branches, but here it always seems to taste especially good. Pizza, pasta, salads, soup, yummy desserts, the list goes on. Lovely starters with olives and tomatoes. The coffees are delicious too. I recommend this branch whole-heartedly.

As with 99% of Pizza Express Restaurant you know what you’re going to get. So pretty much what you’d expect. Not a bad place though, I’ve got no problem with PE and to be honest quite like it.

This branch of PizzaExpress is in a great position in Cardiff Bay. The views are great from the window tables or at the tables outside the restaurant. It is very popular and always busy. The quality of the food is excellent and service in our experience has also been excellent. We have not had a disappointing experience yet. The grandchildren enjoy the childrens menu which is excellent value and good choices. They particularly enjoy the garlic dough balls and the babycchino at the end of their meal. Atmosphere is busy although noise levels can be a little high. There is a good mix of customers from families to pensioners.
