Looking for delicious moist dried figs? Look no further than Sainsburys!
And this is the Sainsburys I buy ‘em from.
It’s really handy after some serious «retail therapy» in the city, and I then hail down a taxi near the bus stop outside — sorted.
Of course, they sell more than just figs — they sell dates as well (b-​boom!).
No, seriously, fellow Qypers, it’s a well-​stocked and run store with young, friendly and helpful staff.
As they don’t have any trolleys they could do with some“wheelie“baskets: handy if you want to buy a bit more (an insider informed me that the ones they did have were nicked — please return them now; you know who you are).
One Qyper thinks the store’s a bit dear but I think any mark up, given the City Centre location, is reasonable, and never puts me off doing my once-​a-​week shop there.
The overall quality of S/bury’s food is always good, and very fresh, with a judicious choice of organic products.

Location. Location. Location. This is the only supermarket you’ll find in the centre of Cardiff town that’ll just about manage to have everything you’ll need for a weekly shop. It’s bigger on the inside than it looks from outside and so it has the usual array of food a supermarket might offer.
It is also popular as a quick stop shop for commuters coming to work (particularly those arriving just down Station Terrace at Queen Street Station) as well as during lunchtime for its sandwiches and salad bar.
It really is a very busy shop almost all of the time, but the recent arrival of loads of self-​service check outs has made it a bit of a quicker shopping experience than it used to be.

The best thing about this is its location. For anyone who works in the centre of town its a godsend.
My favorite bit is the salad bar. Its a bit range of pasta’s, potato dishes and anything else you could probably want in a salad. Its a much cheaper and healthier alternative to the KFC next store, or other junk food.
Also the actually food selection is pretty good for a small store, they have lots of easy ready-​meals to take home and lots more. Never going to be especially cheap being a Sainsbury’s but for convenience it scores high.

This Sainsburys is in a very prime spot, ready to sell convenience food to city centre shoppers and office workers, and it’s fairly big for an in-​town ‘metro’-style supermarket.
However what puts me off the place is the prices. Some of the ready meals you can take home from there are almost as expensive as it would be to go into a restaurant and order the same thing! I know you can taste the difference with some of their quality foods but for those kind of prices I’d want a waiter to be serving it to me– and it’s no better than Marks & Spencer Food, which I like, and which you can find in Cardiff if you’re willing to walk.
At the busiest times, there can also be huge queues at the tills, so if you’re in a hurry to get back to somewhere, there’s no guarantee you’ll get served in time.

A mini Sainsburys at a really good location for anyone living, visiting or working in the City Centre to pick up their evening meal, this branch is much smaller than the other branch I visit on Colchester Avenue but still has a good range of products (and plenty of alcohol!) there is also a build your own salad bar at the back of the shop where you purchase a container and then can fill it with whatever you choose form the counter (a cheap way to buy olives ive been told!) as this branch is so handy for so many people there are queues that can form can be really long so not too great if you planning to pop in before getting a bus from outside.

Sehr guter Supermarkt direkt im Zentrum von Cardiff.
Gute Lebensmittel. I like it!
Es gibt auch fertige Sandwiches für die Mittagspause und leckere Snacks.
Nach 19.00 Uhr gibt es oft Sonderangebote! Kann ich sehr empfehlen. Das einzige, man kann hier nicht direkt vor parken, wenn man einen größeren Einkauf machen will. Dieses Sainsburys ist besonders bei Studenten beliebt.
