God bless Starbucks. Yeah, yeah, I’m a corporate puppet, I’m a cog in the machine, I should support my local coffee shop and blah, blah, blah. Not to sound mercenary, but if my local coffee shop wants my support, they’d better figure out how to make peppermint hot chocolate and hazelnut frappachino’s taste this good first. Whooo capitalism! Seriously though, I do love a good Starbucks, and this store is simply the best in the city. The two floors and large counter ensures that you always have a large, comfy seat to sit in whilst you wait an insanely short time for your drink to be called. And if you’re one of those Macbook wielding hipsters, desperate to be seen writing, don’t worry. They have lots of those little tables that perfectly show off your furrowed brow as you work on your latest short story. The queue is usually quite large, but that’s the price you pay for getting those delicious, 7000 calorie drinks.

This is double layered Starbucks at the far end of town which I used to frequent daily when I was a full time student at Coleg Glan Hafren, back in the day. I think that this probably the busiest Starbucks in Cardiff; there is always a massive queue out of the door, and you’ll be waiting a while even once you get to the other end. That being said, the upstairs area does make for a very pleasant escape from the rest of the city rush, the baristas are always 100% on top form, and the staff are very prompt considering. A good place to head into for a warm sit down in the Winter or a cool frappacino in the summer.
