Never had the food here because they wouldn’t deliver even though they advertise they do. I’m a 4 minute drive away and still they refused to come after telling me to wait hours till they open their doors. The woman on the phone was rude each time I spoke to her. Customer service is definitely not their forte and I would assume the same quality of their food.

Decided to go tonight after reading the reviews on here and I can say that the fish in black bean sauce I was hoping for was not only available there but delicious!(too few places have it around here to the point of me almost ordering veg in black bean sauce and a regular fried cod from the fish and chips menu before seeing that they had the dish). The staff was friendly and polite as had always been my experience based on the hand wave I got every time I walked passed in the past. I also had the chicken curry that I think they called hot wok curry after reading here that the sauce was amazing and a dark brown colour like a type of cross between gravy and curry. It was delicious! I also had the breaded chicken starter, it was very good!(although a bit greasy, no, oily is more like it. but I expected that it is that type of dish) I am eager to try other things there as it all looks amazing! Next time I think I will get the hot Singapore noodles and that chicken curry again! If I can go without ordering my fish and black bean sauce favourite! The prices are fair and the food to remember! Go or order by phone, it is worth it! Oh I also want to try chips with that thick brownish curry sauce now! I think I have a new favourite place!

most of the chinese food from hot wok is pretty good but they have the worst sweet and sour sauce i have ever tasted. my usual beef chow mein and fried rice is very good. my daughter liked their fishcake and chips till last week when the chips tasted like they were cooked yesterday and reheated. the prices are not so bad. i have paid a lot more for a worse chinese before

The Hot Wok is where you go if you want a fancy takeaway. Or at least that was the case back in Llanrumney, before I moved up to Roath and realised that I was now surrounded by so many Chinese takeaways that they technically had to pay me money to go to them. Back in Llanrumney at my parents house, we had a choice of two takeaways that delivered. There was the Lucky Palace where you went for your general, all purpose fish and chips and Chinese style takeaways. These meals were great, greasy affairs that would slide around the plate like a dog on linoleum. If we were feeling posh though, it was Hot Wok all the way. The chips are less«chip shoppy» and they do fantastic Singapore Chow Mein which is incredible. If you like noodles and your food to have a bit of a spicy kick, this is the dish for you. They can be a little expensive at times, but it’s certainly worth it for what you get and what it tastes like.

Hot Wok is a fantastic little Chinese and Cantonese take-away tucked away in the heart of Splott. They offer a really extensive menu covering all of the traditional favourites, with some interesting added extra’s in the Chef’s Specialities section, like Singapore Vermicelli and Cantonese Sweet and Sour Crispy Fish. Prices vary more than usual when compared with the competition, with some dishes being really inexpensive, for example the Beef Chowmein, which is only £3.90, and other dishes coming in slightly more expensive, but only by a matter of ten or twenty pence. What I really like about Hot Wok is that they cook everything fresh to order, making the already excellent quality of the ingredients that little bit more tasty. They offer delivery on orders of £7.00 or more, charging a £1.00 delivery charge, with cash payments being the only option, but if you don’t live in the immediate area it’s best to call and find out if they will deliver to your address.

Hotwok is a Chinese take away in the residential area of Splott in central Cardiff. It is situated on Carlisle Street which is a residential street, not a main shopping street so it isn’t the first one you would find unless you know the area well. From the outside it is quite modest. There isn’t any decoration, just the name on the window. The look of the place really doesn’t do justice to the lovely food they make. We decided to give it a try one night and too be honest we weren’t expecting culinary delights as it looks very small scale and basic from the outside. We were very pleasantly suprised! the food was delicious! Sometimes chinese take away food can be quite greasy and I often find the chicken a little slimey and the duck a bit chewy but this was neither. The chicken was lovely and the duck was very good quality, very well cooked and tender. delicous! The sauces are also great. The black bean sauce is especially nice. The sauces aren’t at all gloopy like they aften are, they are spot on. I think a good way to judge a chinese take away is on it’s spare ribs and I have no complaints here– meaty, tender and with a lovely BBQ sauce. The prices are very reasonable too. I highly recommend this chinese take away. It’s the best in the area. I think you will be pleasantly suprised.
