I absolutely adore this place. Mind, I haven’t tried their café upstairs(but I will one day!); I’ve only browsed their shop below. ~ Atmosphere: If I could describe Wally’s Delicatessen in only 1 word, I would pick«charming». Especially since I browsed during the Christmas shopping season, there were loads of adorable treats here and you would really get lost browsing the aisles filled with all sorts of things you just couldn’t find anywhere else. I’m normally not much of a shop-browsing person but even I really enjoyed it! ~ Variety: If there’s one thing that Wally’s does have, is plenty of variety with loads of goodies you can’t get anywhere else. You could probably tick off your entire Christmas shopping just at this shop! There aren’t just sweets and unique treats, but also a fully stocked deli with wonderful cured meats and cheeses. — The only thing about Wally’s is that it isn’t cheap but for unique high-quality goods, you’d be hard pressed to find another shop in Cardiff that offers the same. I left with some yoghurt-covered banana snacks and macarons! Definitely will be back soon when I’m ready to do some Christmas-shopping!

I go to Wally’s every now and again for chorizo and crisps but hardly buy anything else as they are so expensive. Some cans of pop that are unusual to find other places are about £1.50, I can remember seeing a jar of tomato sauce for pasta which was over £3. I like the things they sell but can’t justify buying most of them for the price.

Excellent shop downstairs selling all sorts of hard to find ingredients or things you only usually find overseas. Upstairs is a brilliant little café. I had the meat and cheese board which was a delight. Three cheeses and three cured meats, plus delicious bread, crackers, olives, pickled onions and smoked sausage. It gives you a little taste of everything and makes a great lunch.

Love this place! I went in because I saw all the American goodies in the window! However, after walking in, it is not just American goodies, there are lovely marinated olives, wines, meats, and even goodies from other countries. What made me give Wally’s the last star happened to be the American items that I hadn’t seen at very many places… Hershey’s Cocoa, Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup, and Jiffy Cornbread Mix. I’m not sure if I’ll remember exactly where it was because we just happened to stumble onto it. The food items are not exactly cheap, but then again imported items are never exactly cheap, however I don’t feel like the prices were higher compared to other stores that sell the similar items. Love it… will definitely be back!

Je rejoins tout les avis des précédents Qypers concernant le Wally’s Delicatessen ! Lors de mon voyage en Angleterre, j’ai eu l’occasion d’y faire un tour et je né le regrette pas du tout ! Je le recommande fortement !

Wally’s delicatessen have recently added more space to their store by taking up space occupied by the shop next door which has made a huge difference. It does of course means that the normal selection of goods has been greatly augmented. For example they now have a cheese counter with a wider selection of cheeses from both Britain and Europe There is hardly any cheese that you require that is not on display. They have also a counter with self service of large stuffed olives in olive oil. The inside’s are many and various including garlic if that is your taste. Mention should also be made of the coffee counter that has a wide variety of coffee beans I intend slowly going though them. So far I have sampled the Mocha that has a wonderful aroma and a chocolate/coffee flavour. Together with their normal delicatessen foods and spices the new addition to the store makes it probably the finest establishment of its type in the city.

The original and, depending on what you’re looking for, still the best, here is the first Wally’s Delicatessen in the city. Plonked in the middle of Morgan’s Arcade, we have Wally’s Delicatessen that services the community who are looking for a stranger set of foods than the standard Tesco fare. Besides selling their usual, and vast, range of imported foods, from Polish spiced sausage meats, to specialist herbs and spices, they also offer the service of importing things upon request. Sure, it’ll cost a little more, but if there’s enough interest in a product, and they can source it for you, they’ll happily get it in for you. Serving as the big brother to the new store, this place has a definite focus on the more mature foods than its St. David’s 2 sister store, however, it does still offer a selection of tasty sweet treats imported from overseas for those of us with selective tastebuds.

Food! We all love it and we all need it. At Wally’s Delicatessen they offer a whole range of food that immediately looks appealing and incredibly tasty that makes you want to pick up a basket and start buying. Even though it’s not in the most ideal of locations in Royal Arcade that doesn’t stop people visiting and buying. If I could remember the first thing that comes to my head about Wally’s it would be the smell. You are struck by that distinctive smell. It’s like when you walk past a bakers shop and all you can think about it the freshness of that bread. When you enter Wally’s you are hit by the smell and you can see the food they have. I remember seeing a selection of olives on display that looked wonderful. I like making currys now and then and I thought this would be the perfect place to find some ingredients. Sure enough I was right and they has everything I was looking for. As well as ingredients and olives they do cheeses and deli meats. To top it all off they do have imported cereals from American including Lucky Charms. An overwhelming sense of joy was filled within me when I first found this out. Wally’s Delicatessen is a wonderful food shop that supplies a full range of foods that will have you coming back to buy more. You do need to watch out for the prices though, it can get a little pricey.

If nothing else, stop by Wally’s for the delectable American goodies. I thought all hope was lost when all I could find in this fair city was Lucky Charms cereal for £7 a box at House of Frazer. Big deal. I can’t go in here, or else I will quite easily drop £50(of disposable income I don’t have) on coconut M&Ms, Combos, and anything else imported from my home land(anyone who’s left their Mother Country’s shores will share my mild obsession). Wally’s ain’t cheap. But sometimes, a bit of quality food goes a long way to enhancing my mood. The olives here are especially tasty, and worth it if you’re sick of the comparable offering from local supermarkets like Tesco and Asda. Just go here. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Wally’s is a real old fashioned delight of a shop to visit. As soon as you go through the door the smell of food hits your nostrils. It’s been such a pleasure to see the shop take over more and more space. Unfortunately the more space it takes up the more customers it gets. Wally’s is a place to browse it isn’t designed for a quick visit. When I visit every tin and packet is examined carefully before the grand finale of looking in the fridge. The staff are very knowledgeable about their produce and are happy to give you small tasters of the many meats and cheeses in store. The one frustration is trying to get in to do a shop at Xmas. Wally’s is absolute bedlam then so I have devised a system. I go in early December and get everything i need including my annual Pannetone. These beautiful italian boxed cakes are fantastic and look really festive hanging from the shop ceiling alongside the gingerbread. At Christmas the whole shop smells like a Christmas pudding.

You know when you have that unquestionable urge for pot of olives, a packet of amaretto biscuits and three balls of tea that blossom into pretty flowers in your teapot? No, me neither. But this gorgeous delicatessen will awake in you the most stirring desire for unusual cupboard fillers. With prices geared towards the affluent food obsessive, it is generally not worth buying basics here. Wally’s also has the most overpriced and unfamiliar range of cans by the morally questionable Coca-Cola, an unusual element in an establishment that oozes such a liberal impression. However, when it comes down to the rarer goods and ingredients, Wally’s is a great place to be inspired. Reminiscent of a French deli, their cheese counter is always rather tempting and the variety of meats available always comes as a surprise. Wally’s is certainly worth a visit, especially if you can be bold in trying new things and experimental in the things you buy. Full of well-dressed people ready to make quality meals, the shop itself, not necessarily the food it serves, is a lifestyle choice. To make the most out of this excellent service, feel free to break the mould. URBANCHALLENGE: Buy some cheese because you like the name

This is a great place, it everything and such cool selection of foreign for food. Speaking as someone who used to live in the United States, what I thought was absolutely amazing is that Woody’s stocks some of the food stuffs that I really miss like Reese’s puffs! For those of you who don’t know what this is, ask yourself the question do you like Reese’s peanut butter cups? If the answer is yes then Reese’s puffs is that but a cereal! On the back wall is a meat counter with a large selection of ham, salami and other beautiful looking meats. The prices are slightly on the expensive side, but it really doesn’t matter because for me Wally’s is place to go and treat yourself to some absolutely deli-ightful foods and somewhere you’re very unlikely to do your weekly shop.

Wally you are sure not a wally! you amazed me with your fine selection of food. When I arrived in your establishment, I was impressed to see a beautiful array of cheeses, hams, meats and sweets. Your displays counters and all the foods from around the world. Your staff I found delightful. But what impressed me the most was the fact that you sold and wait for it… Peanut butter M&M and Reece’s pieces white chocolate. Wally I’am in love with you! their my absolute favourite and sooo they were nearly £2 but who cares! I cant get those delightful treats all the time. I shall look forward to seeing you next time when Iam next in Cardiff. Lady Raka xxx

Ah I love love love this little delight! I only really go here when I have a little extra cash to spare as it is quite pricey but when I do I have never been disappointed. The sell so many little treats ranging from sweets, cakes and biscuits to cooking sauces, pickles and pasta shells. It really is worth a look as your bound to find something that tickles you tastebuds. If your stuck for a gift idea this christmas try buying one of their amazing little hampers they have on offer. Prices range from £35-£45 and there are loads to choose from. One that is always a safe bet is ‘Wallys top ten’ hamper. This consists of their top ten items ranging from sauces to olives to chocolate covered nuts all presented in a lovely little basket. There are so many unique little products in this shop it is a must to visit when trawling through the arcade.

An unusual food shop selling nuts of all kinds your favorites and the foreign that you may not know so well and there are extraordinary, many selections of different kinds of herbs. The people who work there are pleasant enough and they are helpful if you get stuck and confused about what to choose and confused about where to look to find what you want. The shop in that lies within the Royal Arcade in Cardiff’s town centre and it has been there for sixty years. There is another shop also, that is located in the Saint David’ s Centre in Cardiff’s shopping centre. The man, who owns this shop, is the man who owns the shops name. The current owner’s father ran a small shop before this exact type of shop, in Vienna and then eventually he and his family travelled to England 1939. Eight years he worked in a factory to accumulate capital and he also learned the English language at the same time, later on he opened a brand new shop selling such food product that I’ve mentioned above. The prices are reasonable enough and I do really recommend this shop for all who like to try at something new and culturally interesting.

Wally’s is easily the best — and most exciting — deli in Cardiff and deserves a five star recommendation. This is the place to go is you want Polish and South African food in particular — there are separate sections for both, and you won’t see many of the chilled cheeses and cooked meats anywhere else in the city — or south Wales, come to that. Wally’s doubled in size a few years ago by taking over the shop next door, and is very bright and airy. And there’s the slight problem. Although doubled in size, it doesn’t seem to have quite doubled the stock. The old, smaller Wally’s was packed from floor to roof with goods, and now doesn’t seem to have expanded their stock pro rata to its new size. While it’s not quite the culinary Aladdin’s Cave it was once, it’s still one of the better shops to visit in the city centre.

For unusual ingredients, this original Wally’s deli shop in Royal Arcade would be the first port of call for most Cardiff locals. Over the decades it’s been running, the shop has become a bit of a Cardiff institution. For continental products such as Italian and Spanish cheeses, French charcuterie, Greek olives and olive oil, you can’t beat it. But there’s far more to it than that — in recent years the shop has expanded dramatically and it now stocks a cornucopia of high quality and unusual products. First off, as soon as you walk through the door there’s an extensive olive bar with dozens of different varieties marinated in various herbs and spices. At the back of the shop there’s a big cheese counter with a massive selection of European artisan cheeses, and at the other side a charcuterie selling cold meats. Behind the till you’ll find a range of traditional liquors from across Europe, such as Limoncello from Italy or Cytrynowka Polish vodka, and many fine wines. And on the shelves you’ll find packs of dried fruits, nuts, cereals, biscuits, chocolate, and ranges of non-European ethnic products such as Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Mexican and Caribbean. Wally’s well-deserved success has also led to the creation of a second store in Cardiff’s glitzy new shopping centre(St David’s 2).

Deli’s always excite me. And Wally’s does not disappoint. There is a section for wine, cheese, meat, an olive bar and my favourite part… The sweet section that caters some of the more rarer things from other countries. Essentially I go in there for one thing and one thing only. Hershey hot fudge ice cream topping. Think of a galaxy bar seducing a mars bar on a hot summers day to the music of Barry White and your not even close to the sexual flavour of it. Erm.The deli, yes. The layout is of a European traditional deli. The smells that allude this place are amazing. The strong cheese wrestles with the cooked smells of the beautiful meat as the olives tug at their trousers to get some attention. Truly wonderful and worth a visit alone.

This is a palce I as a food-a-holic do like! As I am a foreigner living in Wales this is where I can satisfy some of my cravings. When I first arrived here I noticed this shop and thought of it as another old Arcade based one. But I was wrong, since I stpeed foot on there I keep on going there regularly for my speciality foods. This was the only place where I found proper Yeast! And that was hard to get from the normal retailers. That for me says a lot when quality is related. You can find almost anything there, good cheeses, good pasta, great spices from all the world. For the looks of it, it just makes it more charmer, it is one of those shops that seem to be packed to the roof. While visiting it seems you are on a discovery journey and never know what to find. That for me is bliss. :D I highly recommend Wally’s, even if you are just visiting go there, you sure will come out of it with something! And it is close by Spillers, another of Cardiff’s institutions!
