Central location, nice staff, clean rooms, inexpensive. It’s a budget hotel. The room I stayed in was very, very small. Bunkbeds and a couple feet of floor space. It’s a good place to stay if you’re not planning on spending much time there. The room I stayed in was great for sleeping, but would be a terrible workspace. If I came to Cardiff again for leisure, which is completely hypothetical ’cause I thought Cardiff was a pretty terrible place, I’d definitely consider staying at this hotel again.

The thing about Sleeperz hotel is that it is in a great location if you want somewhere to stay that is right in the centre of things and you are travelling by train. The bad thing is that if you stay at Sleeperz, it is right next to(and I mean right next to) the railway line. I’m not sure why a company would build a hotel here and not think that guests would hear the trains passing back and forth. The rooms are small in size and although quite modern it does feel a little like they are cramming you in here. The en suite may as well be in the room as the rooms themselves are so small. Also, when you get up in the morning and you go downstairs to have some breakfast, you will notice that you are surrounded entirely by windows which made me feel very on display. Personally, I’d rather stay somewhere further out of town and cheaper.

Sleeperz is a fairly new hotel company that offers business and leisure travellers the opportunity to stay in Cardiff’s bustling city centre at an affordable price. Located on a bustling corner near Cardiff Central Train Station and the Great Western pub, Sleeperz offers modern accommodation at rates of £55 and up(it’s worth checking their website for offers on upgrades, etc). My friend stayed here for a few weeks back in December, which gave me a chance to scope the place out — overall, Sleeperz provides clean rooms, clean bathrooms, and a pretty tasty breakfast. The location is the main draw here, as the hotel is in short walking distance of the city’s main shopping areas and bars. My only criticism is the bathroom doors are constructed out of frosted glass. Yes, you can see everything. I’m not one for expressing myself in such a way, but it can be remedied — just tell the potential voyeurs outside to turn around. Please note: The ground floor bar is open fairly late, so if the surrounding St. Mary Street bars prove fruitful, you can end the evening with a nightcap from the friendly and obliging bartender.
