This is one of the better fish and chip shops in Chelmsford although opening hours are limited at times. I’ve popped in here a few times now and my order for fish was always cooked fresh. Staff are nice and the restaurant itself looks clean but not immaculate.

Always a firm favourite after a night out being close to the town centre.
Food is always fresh, Batter very chrisp and full of flavour.
Would highly recommend Fancy Fry to all.

The best fish and chips i have enjoyed in Chelmsford. Rock eel was cooked perfectly, good crisp batter and proper chunky style chips. Washed down with a lovely cuppa. Perfect!

Fancy fry is not actually that fancy but it is great for what it is! I once went in at 4am on a Sunday morning after a night out on the tiles, I bought a battered sausage and cheesy chips and mmm they were great. Brilliant thing to sober you up — and since it was in the summer I got to watch the sun rise outside! Haha! Lovely staff and great prices, maybe not the place to go for a romantic meal but definitely good for a quick fast food joint after a night out!
