Nice coffee, can get quite crowded. They do drinks, cakes and paninis. All that you would expect from a costa :-)

This Costa Coffee Shop is on the 1st Floor in Waterstones BookshopThe deep aroma of coffee greats you as the climb the winding stairs. Lovely comfy Armchairs as well as some more tradional seating in this Costa there is a small outside area which looks on all the splendaur of Cheltenham Promenade. This a very upmarket café Quiet, Well educated Voices, Very few children Lovely place for people watching

The branch of Costa in Cheltenham sits on one of the upper floors in Waterstones on the promenade. It is quite a good location, if you know where to find it, as it has a lovely seated area on a balcony overlooking the promenade which is great in summer(although you have to fight for a seat!). In winter, however, the seating area is almost halved as it’s too cold to sit outside and they don’t have any patio heaters. this is quite a problem as the indoor seating area is small to say the least. Other than the lack of space, I do like this Costa. Being set in Waterstones makes it a great place to sit and mull over a new book with a good cup of coffee.

The food and drinks are lovely, although a little expensive. The coffee shop is easily accessible via the lift in Waterstones. However, I’ve been in there a couple of times this year and both times there have been pigeons wandering around pecking at crumbs — they’re obviously flying in through the open window. This isn’t very pleasant or hygenic, but people don’t seem to bat an eyelid! It does put me off going in.
