In the past, my company has us stay in Chester (home of Anthony H.) when we’re in the area on business. Chester is a charming and fun city, with the old Roman walls that you can walk on top and around the city and the river side. There’s also the Chester Races (The Roodee) that depending on the season, brings a lot of nicely-​dressed and sometimes hard drinking folks to town. Anthony advises that the May Gold Cup is a good time to attend.
I took my work team (after a job well done) here once and it’s the type of place that Gayle would love too. It’s French and elegant with nice dark woods and a very impressive menu.
