La Tasca is gone down hill. I was once a regular but the microwaved food is overpriced and not good at all. Such a shame!

One of my favourite restaurants, the food is always lovely with the exception of the paella tapas(not including the freshly made big paellas, they’re gorgeous!) I think the problem is that the smaller ones aren’t made fresh as paella takes time to make. I’m guessing the people complaining about portion size don’t know what tapas are and must have only ordered one or something as I always leave full. Nice casual atmosphere, perhaps a little too casual if you’re after speedy service but that isn’t something that bothers me personally as the staff are very friendly and I guess you could say it gives it a genuine Spanish feel. One of the best value places to eat out in my opinion.

Had a ‘meal’ here a few months ago. The portions are a bit small and leave you hungry! Didnt like it, very busy and packed out. Also See

Yuck. Microwaved frozen tapas. An insult to Spanish food. Lord knows where they found their chefs.

Quite a small version of this chain restaurant — food was disappointing but it was a bustling Saturday night when we attended. What made it really poor though was that the imbecile waiter made my Sangria with soda water and did not understand his mistake

Four stars for La Tasca.mmmmm. perhaps a little generous after all this is part of a big chain and in Chester, at least, a slightly dingy place. BUT it is good value the food is not unique but still tasy and it crept into four stars for the service which was excellent — informal, amusing and attentive. A good night out? Yes it was!

Despite initially loving La Tasca, it seems to disappoint me more with every visit. The food is consistantly good value. Hearty fare at good prices that encourage you to try a bit too much of everything and end up rolling out of the door. The tapas are generally good although I find the shellfish dishes are generally tasteless. The paella, as you would expect, it very tasty and the patatas bravas are so moreish its untrue. To truely treat yourself you can order a huge paella which whill take at least ½ hour to arrive but is worth the wait. For me its the service that lets La Tasca down. We visited for a special occaision once and despite booking a week in advance, were given the worst table in the restaurante. Any closer to the kitchen and we’d have burned our bums on the oven. On my last visit I pointed out to the manager that the drink I ordered was on the menu and reciept as being 330ml but was actually only 250ml. They have changed the menu, there is nothing I can do. she said and wandered off. Well, its polite to apologise. A good place to eat. Not a good place to celebrate.

part of a chain but offers high quality tapas in a nice setting. Décor is traditional, setting is dark and cramped — but that is a plus point! Unbeatable lunch time and evening offers available but only Mon — Thurs.

Great place to eat. Upon coming in from the door you enter the tapas zone due to the dark wooden tables and the ambient red low light. The staff are lovely and there are plenty of places to sit, with an upstairs and downstairs area. The food was really good, i had the buffet menu which is basically a selected range of tapas on an all you can eat set up for about £10. And it really is all you can eat, the staff won’t start raising their eyebrows at you when you ask for 3rds, in fact, they seemed to encourage it! For parking, there is a pay and display right next to the restaurant but if you don’t mind(or you want to) walk through town, then just park at the councils free after 3pm car parks. I really recommend this place, with the only reservation being the lack of nachos!

My fav eatery in chester, paking is £1 after 5 at the back but difficult outside the place. look for the offers like tapas for a tenner(as much as you like for £10) kids eating free and menu rapido(get it quick or eat for free) gets busy on the week ends but a lovely atmosphere and very helpful staff. dont worry about not knowing the score with a tapas bar as its the same as any other menu, just brought in smaller portions(but more frequently!!!)

This may be a chain restaurant but it has still become one of my favourite places to eat in Chester. The food is typical Spanish Tapas with a menu that is updated every 6 months or so. Prices are very reasonable and the great thing about Tapas is that you have total control over the portion sizes(small or large!). Whilst the quality of food is good, it isn’t exceptional — but what really makes this place is the atmosphere. It’s quite a dark place, but the candle light dining really adds to the feel of Spanish authenticity. There is a constant buzz about the place — usually brought about by the fact that it is a favourite place for larger groups to gather. That said, it’s also great for couples — just so long as you don’t mind a bit of lively atmosphere in the background! You can’t have Tapas without having Sangria(well you can, but it just wouldn’t be the same) — and the Sangria here is great — inexpensive and easy to drink — highly recommended.

As a local of Chester, I’d always wanted to eat in this place Unfortunately, they did not have the choice of drinks that were on the menu — the beer choice was extremely limited — and the waitress was unsure whether the wine we ordered was available but offered to get us any Rose! We ordered Chorizo in red wine and chicken skewers as a starter. I thought the Chorizo in red wine was disappointing, both the chorizo and the sauce were beyond bland. The chicken skewers were worryingly lukeawrm — apparently reheated and not reheated right through. We waited the 45 minutes, as per the menu, for a seafood paella which seemed overcooked, stodgy rice burnt onto the sides of the pan at the top of the dish, contained mainly chicken(?), and the seafood that it did contain was dry. Cracked mussel shells decorated the dish. Altogether a huge disappointment and at £50 an experience I won’t be trying at any La Tasca in the future.

Food is stunning with friendly staff a great place for meeting friends for lunch before shopping with friends or for a more intimate evening meal in the evening. If there is a gang of you going it’s great for getting lots of little tapas dishes to have a little bit of everything along with big jugs of sangria. The place itself is decorated well and has a very confortable friendly feel to it. The toilets are imaculate.
