J B Christie’s bakery is the only reason you would ever have to go to sunny Coatbridge and it’s a bloody good reason at that. Nestled in between some pretty shady establishments, this little bakery is the cream of the crop.
There are loads of cakes to choose from, all made fresh on the premises, as well as sausage rolls and pies, bread and sandwiches. Perfect for lunchtime. But lets get back to the cakes. My mouth is watering at the thought of them!
I always go in with the premise of getting ‘just one’ but end up leaving with a boxfull. I highly beyond highly recommend the rum logs, which are basically really moist rum balls but stretched out. To die for. They do these little chocolate cups which have a rum jam in the bottom, with trifely stuff and truffles. I can’t even describe to you how awesome it is.
It really isn’t that pricey at all, cakes averaging out at 60p to 1.30. They also do birthday and wedding cakes to order, which look great.
If you do happen to venture to Coatbridge, then pay Christie’s a visit. Just don’t blame me when you leave with your body weight in cake.

A local baker who has been in the area for ever, and so they should be! Everything is baked fresh daily and they have a fantastic selection. Pies, rolls, cakes, scones, etc and they make birthday and wedding cakes to order. The same ladies have worked there since I was little and they are all very helpful. The shop is spotless.
I think anyone who uses this shop has their favourite things. Mine are onion pies and the samll apple pies that they sell. I am also partial to a bit of domino cake. I could talk about this place all day. Highly recommended!!!

Brilliant bakers, cakes, sausage rolls, pies and rolls all excellent quality and price. I dont think a year has gone by without someone i know having a birthday cake from here. Centrally located if you need a pie for lunch and right on the main street so when you are doing the weekly shop you can nip in for some goodies. Fantastic.

Christies is a really lovely local bakers. There are branches in both Coatbridge and Airdrie. Shop is tiny and always squashed full of people and usually busy. But there is always plenty of staff on and you don’t have to wait long to get served. Best products are their pies and their Domino Cakes, which are sponge cakes covered in icing and chocolate sprinkles. Prices are good as products really are outstanding. They also do birthday cakes etc that can be pre-​ordered with names etc and agin these are really reasonably priced. Their fresh baked bread is also excellent and they will pre slice it for you if you ask.
