This branch of Costa is situated near the main entrance of the Royal Derby Hospital, alongside a branch of M&S Simply Food and a Boots pharmacy. Fairly large in size, it is very popular, always busy with a constant stream of visitors, staff and patients. A good variety of seating, from comfy chairs to more formal tables, all in a quiet calm environment, perfect for it’s setting; I particularly like the collages on the walls that show how coffee beans get from field to cup. The variety of drinks and food on offer reflects other Costa outlets, such as cappuccinos, fruit teas, low calorie soft drinks, sandwiches, wraps and light pasta/rice dishes, to name but a few. The staff are used to the relentless pace, remaining at all times cheerful and unflustered. We’ve spent a lot of time visiting the hospital in the last three weeks, and at times there had been up to eight of us there for visiting at any one time, so we have literally used this Costa as a base, whilst we took it in turns to go up to the ward. We were never rushed or moved, and this made essentially what is a difficult time, somewhat easier
