What a fantastic pub virtually unspoilt, the interior is what a multi room pub used to be and full of character, tiles, plasterwork and lots of wood and leather. There’s nothing false it’s totally authentic. Theres a great range of well kept real ale, has to be on my top list of pubs to go to in the UK.

Real old world pub, no television, juke box or one armed bandits. A good mix of clientele, good choice of well kept real ales and over 60 whiskies to savour. Also available for bed and breakfast.

Im surprised no one has reviewed The Vic yet. This is my(and a lot of other peoples) go-to pub. The atmosphere is a mix of locals, postgraduate students and professors. I rarely, if ever, see the typical undergraduate student population here. The Vic is everything you want a pub to be. The atmosphere is quintessential British pub. No TVs, no music, just nice old wood, vintage pictures and fireplaces. It is consistently rated as one of Britains top B&Bs and is a go-to place for real ales(silver star CAMRA rating), friendly people and a strong whiskey. The Vic is all charm and there is a reason is it a favorite with both locals and visitors.

I used go here when I was at school and still go back here when I am up visiting family. It maintains its character and has a mix of locals and students(my old doctor drinks there too.) It has 3 rooms which surround a central bar area, each with a different feel and character. The bar has a range of local real ales, superb place to be!
Durham
Rating des Ortes: 4 Durham, United Kingdom
Despite living in Durham since I was born, I only went into this pub for the first time last week. I was greeted by a great ‘pub smell’ as soon as I stepped through the door — fabulous! There was a wide variety of different ales to try(and we managed to sample more than a few!) Also a great selection of whiskies to end the night with. Locals and students seem to exist in harmony, unlike many places in Durham. The staff were very friendly and a great help when deciding what ale to try next. The décor matches the olde worlde atmosphere which was great for pretending to step back in time. I will definately return!
