Part bar, part restaurant, all pleasant.
Not sure if this is a bar with a restaurant, or a restaurant with a bar, but it is nicely «appointed», clean simple look, spacious dining area, nice bar space and cozy seated area.
Plus a good sized outdoor area, over looking the impressive Townhall and a rather nice church (if that’s you thing!)
Not tried the food, yet. But word is its rather good. Certainly as a bar it is, so hoping as a restaurant it is too…

Haven’t eaten here in a while but I occasionally pop in for a beer. Always seems busy, higher than average for the town prices helps keep the riff-​raff out and the atmosphere is generally good. Recommended as part of the ‘South Street Shuffle’ of a weekend.

I live very near it so it’s a local in the summer. lovely lay– out… mix of tables for groups and couples. Good outside seating. Seating for non diners. Must have something going for it for nearby restaurants seem to fail. Menu eclectic and interesting. Not the cheapest but staff are always friendly and accommodating. I recommend it highly.

The anterior of the pub is beautifully constructed, it almost reminded me of the olden days of large, lavish, luxurious Victorian/​manor houses. The Gastro pub was named ‘Bibendum’ after the ode by the poet Horace in the 1^st Century BC, in the celebration of gaining victory over Antony and Cleopatra by Octavian.
Gastro pub has the seating capacity for 70. Entails of an external patio with seating for 70 along side 1^st floor private function suite with maximum numbers of 100. I had the opportunity to experience the best of both floors including the private function suite, since I attended a toast masters group meeting. Which I found highly interesting and learn some valuable skills and advice that I will remember for the rest of my life. The people at the meeting were warm and highly welcoming. I believe I had the wondrous experiences of holding the most important conversation of my life in one night with a excellent speaker, business man and lovely personality, Mr Dec Cluskey.

The Location is key and easily accessible from all corners of meads and the town centre. Walking distance from the train station and easily found. Its based on the corner of grange road. Parking is availble for customers in near by streets.
The comfort level in the pub was very good. From all the pubs i have had the pleasure of visiting, this one caught my attention. The seats were too comfy to be true. The service at the bar was quick and friendly. The internal temperature was just right and nice, almost sheltering, from the terrible blizzard that was taking place outside.
In conclusion, the location is brilliant for all residents in Eastbourne and those visiting, the Gastro pub is to the highest standards, the suite is brilliant for all those wanting to hold meeting or Christmas dinners and even dance parties. (They have a small dance floor with a disco ball, how exciting is that?)…A must go =]

Really good place to go for food, though maybe a bit more expensive, the food is of a higher quality than your usual bar. Can be very busy weekends due to being beside town hall (weddings can take over), but nice outside area in a good part of town. Function room upstairs is very reasonable and a good size.

Nice to go for a drink, they serve food which apparently is very nice, but have yet to eat here. Glasses sometimes a bit smelly from their dishwasher, nothing more off putting than having a glass of wine which smells of fish!! Staff helpful, nice choice of wines. Outside area ok, a little distance from other pubs, variety of ages that drink here.

I have visited this place many times with friends and family. The menu isn’t extensive, but there’s something for everyone. I love the salads and starters. It isn’t very cheap, but the wine selction is good. Staff are really friendly and accommodating, they have often whipped up something for my picky 3 year old. They don’t mind kids but the food, drink and atmosphere is really grown up, a lot better than dragging them to a Harvester.
