The building work has finished, the old snack bar has closed replaced by a new restaurant, no sandwiches and new menu, not my taste, spicy and no self service?

So much bigger than expected! Pick-Your-Own was fantastic, but get there early! Such a wide variety and better prices than most supermarkets means it’s the perfect day out. Super duper family friendly. And the farm shop is worth a trip into just for the cheese counter!

Took 2 three year old here today so they could learn where some of their food comes from. They absolutely loved picking their own fruit and vegetables. We cooked them up for dinner tonight and every bite was gone. Big success. I’d love to come back as we ran out of time to have a proper look around the HUGE farm/gift store! Overall a great experience

Probably the closest PYO to South West London– vast in scale and wide in scope(not just soft fruit, but also apples, sweetcorn, spinach, carrots, onions, etc etc. Can’t comment on the garden centre and associated café, but our kids love it– but be aware, it can be hot work in the summer sun, and little people will get bored eventually(no matter how excited they are to begin with). I spent an hour and a half with an excited 15 month old in a backpack spurring me on and shouting«More! More! Out! More» in his haste to get at the raspberries. Any visitor is well advised to bring a hat, cold drinks, etc for a summer visit, and expect to do a fair amount of walking.

Visited Garsons Pick your own farm on Saturday. It was my first visit to a pyo farm and I absolutely loved the experience. I picked my own fruits and some veggies and all I can say is that they were very delicious. There is a ring road around the crops and more than enough parking spaces. Friendly staff. Prices were quite OK, but don’t forget to keep all receipts because you will need to present them before you leave the farm. Will be going again next weekend.

There are three different reviews of this centre featuring The Garden Centre, The Restaurant, and the Farm Shop. Well went on Monday, but unplanned and unexpectedly, and found The Garden Centre in the throws of reorganisation, possibly for the Halloween celebrations? As I had not come to buy anything, I ventured to the Farm shop and did buy something. It obviously has Theme Times and this one coming maybe one could go in for a spell?

Been going here for many years. Great selection of pick your own which the kids will enjoy doing. Also a well stocked farmshop and also garden centre. Much more upmarket than it was a few years back so some of the items in the shop are garfen centre are quite pricey.

I love farm shops, and this is the one that i love the most. It’s in beautiful surroundings, with a really big green with a pond right next to it. And a little cricket pitch. Oh so villagey. A dazzling selection of fruit and vegetables that make me want to actually try and eat 5 portions a day. I always fall for the frozen chocolate croissants. By the next morning when defrosted they are huge, and when taken out the oven they look mighty impressive, and of course taste it too. I enjoy coming here to pick strawberries & raspberries in the summer. It’s so satisfying foraging for your own food.

Garson’s Farm is a really great fun place to take the children on a day out — they get to pick their own fruit and vegetables, take them home and enjoy! A good café and playground contribute to the excellent farm and gift shop. There are also excellent toilet and baby changing facilities. After a day out in the fresh air and tramping around the fields, my kids were tired and happy at the end of the day. Even the youngest(2 years) had fun picking berries! The educational factor of course was great — we picked the ingredients to create blackberry jam and apple and blackberry crumble when we got home, so seeing that process from growing the fruit, picking it and cooking when we got home was priceless. It made them realise that not everything comes from the supermarket wrapped in unnecessary plastic!

Farmers markets have become so ubiquitous in London that it is easy to forget that just a few years ago, we all had to search a lot harder for our organic, locally sourced fruit and veg. Not us in Esher, we have been privileged to have Garsons Farm on our doorstep for… well, the farm has been running since the 1900’s. Garsons became what it is known as today around 20 years ago. It has expanded in the last few years, but what it is primarily known as is a place to buy free range, organic, and where possible, locally sourced, fresh produce. Everything that you buy here is delicious. The fruit and veg are plentiful, and comes in both fresh and frozen quantities. There is a large deli, an extremely well stocked cheese counter(which won best cheese shop of the year 2008), a wide range of pre cooked and frozen meals, and plenty of freshly baked cakes and pies. Garsons also covers the American contingent as well. There is a large community of American families living nearby, and Garsons caters for them by supplying treats like Betty Crocker, Aunt Jemima, Goober Grape peanut butter, Lucky Charm Cereals and of course, lots of boxes of macaroni cheese. I know that these things are not what comes under the umbrella of organic goods, but everyones got to have some treats sometimes!

I’m told that Garsons farm is the largest pick your own there is at least in the South of England. Best to check the phone line first to see what is available on the day when a field is released be quick as the good stuff is picked straight away. There’s the usual farm shop selling imported as well as local produce usually at premium prices so don’t get too carried away the local Asda has quite a lot of British produce these days at half the price. The carbon feel good factor somewhat overlooks the fact that the site is well away from public transport so you need a car to get there.

If you’re picky about your fruit and veg but don’t have the facilities to grow your own, why not visit Garsons? You can’t get much fresher than picking your own healthy produce, while it’s still in the fields. Makes a good change from roaming the supermarket shelves it’s fun for adults and children, alike. I’ve been here in the pouring rain and still enjoyed the experience. If you want to check in advance for produce availability, you can ring ahead and verify when your favourite fruit or veg will be pick-able. It’s a very large site so you’ll need to follow the signs to locate what you’re after; then it’s up to you Pick-away, place your selection in the bags provided, get it weighed and pay at one of the check-out kiosks. If you need additional supplies — to accompany your fresh pickings — near the exit there’s a separate farm shop. Also, a café/restaurant, for instant refreshment, to help you recover from your exertions in the field. Then you’re free to return home and munch on your harvest.
