Brilliantly weird little pub, where I wasted much of my degree. Unsurprisigly it’s at the top of the Jacob’s Ladder staircase, and is well worth the climb. Unlike most pubs in Falmouth, few concessions are made for the tourist trade; Jacob’s Ladder is actually pretty scuzzy, but in a country full of brightly lit chain pubs, this is a major plus. Expect to find an assortment of dread-locked students, Cornish eccentrics and washed-up sailors, all tucking into pints of snakebite and Doombar. Bonus points for the regular Friday nights when they used to put on free food, and every Sunday was(still is?) an awesome open-mic night. If you’re in the area and get fed up of the high-street pubs, give it a go. Just don’t be put off by the moldy smell :) DISCLAIMER: I’ve not been for 2 years, but it’s not the kind of place that would change and there’s no review already.
