The best mussels I have ever eaten — apparently from the Fowey river — very fresh-tasting, delicious ‘mariniere’ sauce. Friendly service. Nice 1920s jazz giving it an air of New Orleans. Main course of French cassoulet was delicious, although portion size was a little small. Crème brûlée for dessert was mighty fine. Recommended, but worth booking ahead.

Ok.

I’ve blown hot and cold about here in the past as it’s changed identity too often. hey I don’t like change. Originally a Deli and Bakers, then it had a coffee shop and light meals upstairs, then they opened for evening meals Italian based, good value and good food. Just as I’d accepted that most of the deli dissapears, and it’s a coffee shop and bistro upstairs and down. So off we go again for a meal witha group of 10, and low and behold we really enjoyed it, varied menu, with some Italian influence, and very well cooked. Service is on the slower side when they are busy. I prefer downstairs as you can see the main street and the comings and goings, but upstairs is more cosy.
