Probably in the upper tier of decent, cheap, not-particularly-good-for-you hot food takeaways in the city, 7 Spices has been kicking around the West End for years and remains popular with nearby locals. As well as the usual suspects for the drunk 1am crowd, this place has also developed a reputation for its cheap and cheerful curries which are not bad at all.

I am not generally a fan of the kebab shop/takeaway eaterie, but this is a very useful little place to know about. Offering everything from pizza to pakora — 7 Spices is great when you’re so hungry that there just isn’t time to cook! Located right at the bottom of Byres Road(opposite Ad Lib), this little takeaway does the job right every time. A personal favourite of mine is the pizza — it’s every bit as good as ordering from one of the takeaway pizza giants(let’s say Dominoes) but is a fraction of the price. You can get a large pizza for under £5 — bargain. Food is made while you wait, and there is a seating area for you to wait in while they do so. Waiting times can sometimes be lengthy — but is normally no more than 10 – 15 minutes. 7 Spices is not gourmet food by any stretch of the imagination — but if you want something quick, cheap and filling(and, you know, fancy a bit of a guilty pleasure) then you won’t be disappointed.
