been in a few times but not recently. Its a bit of a gentlemans bar(or old mans pub) my friend was the only female on our side of the bar. It does have a beer garden… about 100m up the steep stairs(not good if your bit tipsy) and it is right beside a railway line hmm. anyway have a go yourself and see if you agree with me. Its nae bad but could be/do better.

This is without a doubt my closest local pub. It has, therefore, been the venue of more than a few late night drinks on the way home. It is cheap and, fairly, cheerful. Although, you may get some strange looks when you first arrive as it is very much a local place, with local people inside. However, after a few you do certainly feel the atmosphere becoming friendlier. It has clean, modern décor and a slightly-raised area filled with comfy leather sofas at the back as well as standard table and chairs through out. The best features are the juke box situated right beside the bar and the range of malt whisky’s that are cheap as chips! While there is no smoking area as such, there are a couple of wooden benches on the street outside(and some big buckets of sand as bins) for customers to use. Parking may be tricky due to this pub being right on a busy main road with double yellow lines. Although, I’m sure if you don’t mind a little walk you could easily find a parking space on one of the surrounding streets. There are regular nights such as quiz and karaōke. Though, I would suggest you avoid the latter, especially if you are on the more sober side of things.

Not a bar I would recommend the staff are unfriendly if you are not a regular and the punters are undesirables that are most likely barred from other finer local establishments

A proper local boozer, but in a well-to-do enough area to not be intimidating to those from afar, the Beechings is pleasant enough for a pint and is home to it’s fair share of local characters. Drinks prices are fairly standard with a tipple coming in under the £3 mark, and there are the usual quiz nights etc you’d expect in such a place. The staff are quite friendly once they know your face as well. The best pub in the local area.

The Beechings might have been bad in the past but it’s been done up and has a new manager. While there is no food except a free lunch on fridays which is very tasty(beef casserole, mince’n’tatties etc) There is definitely a better atmosphere about the place and the staff are very good. It is a sports bar showing sky, setanta and at the races. Good fun quiz on thursdays with bingo.
