So Clintons is back with not a single bit orange in site and Cards has been dropped to just say Clintons. I think this means they want to be taken seriously?! With a new branding in red and a fresh layout of the store it looks like it aims to be like an independent posh card store. Reminds me a wee bit of Paperchase or Scribbler. The prices have came down slightly, as Clinton Cards they were getting dearer and dearer, costing £4−5 for a card. This is why I stopped going as I couldn’t afford to keep shopping there. The dearest card I came across was £3, still a little pricey but these were luxury cards called The Clinton Collection. They are very pretty and have that homemade look about them. They still have the usual brands on sell, Tatty Teddy, Deco Cards etc including many gifts. I felt as Clinton Cards that it was getting more and more tacky with its gifts but I thought Clintons had a bit better selection. I was also given a loyalty card where if you buy 10 cards you get one free. I’ve only five to go but I’m sorted for cards for now. They also included a 20% discount card starting from 26th Nov — 24th Dec on all gifts for Christmas. Interesting incentive but nothing that excited me. I like what they’ve done with the place so I may pop back, especially if I need an über pretty card for someone.

This is a large Clintons store I was in just before Christmas when the first floor was covered with Christmas cards single and boxed. The cards were well stocked and signed so it was easy enough to locate what I was looking at. Some of the cards were too expensive at around £5.00. They stocked a variety of ‘me to you’ bears with different sayings eg special friend. There are stairs that lead to a big open space which makes it pleasant to look at the cards from Birthday to Wedding there is a card for every occasion. Plenty of wrapping paper and some gift ideas.
