Da Vinci’s is probably the highest calibre kebab/curry takeaway around Shawlands. I’m sorry Spicy Hut and Danny Singh’s, but DV has it covered. Take the munchy box for instance, the quality of the doner meat, the freshness of the pakora and chips(plus the token salad) almost makes the meal feel somehow acceptable in modern society. And again, the doner kebab pizza is simply the best of its kind in Scotland(only beaten to the UK crown by Kismet Kebabs in Nottingham). Layers of cheese, doner, cheese and more diners gives a delicious lasagne-esque multitude of levels, from soft and warm meat on the base to hot and crispy meat erupting from the bubbling cheese surface. Don’t forget to add the chilli sauce!

This a great local fast food outlet, the food here to me is perfect for just when you need that little something to satisfy the munches. The pizzas are smashin’ and the pakora is well worth trying out. Way too handy for me if I say so myself. The staff are always efficient in what the do, and pleasant no complaints here.

I definitely agree with Gavin and Laura, Da Vinci’s is a great little takeaway and it’s also very convenient for me. The £7 meal deal is indeed fantastic, who can say fairer than that? Once you’ve chowed your way through a pizza, garlic bread AND chips you can wash it all down with a refreshing can… which in my case is usually Fanta. Mmm. I also really like their burgers and if I’m not feeling hungry enough for the meal deal I’ll usually get one of them. If I’m just looking for a snack then the chips will do me fine too. The prices are very reasonable and the food really is delish. The staff are also very friendly and usually chat away with you when you’re waiting for your tasty order.

Just a quick update to say that for the first time ever I recently got a home delivery from here. It was amazing. They answered the phone extremely quickly despite it being round about 12 o’clock and when they did the telephone manner was lovely. A mere twenty minutes later, there was a reassuring chap a the door(in all respects) with a prized pizza and portion of pakora. Between us, my and the boy, demolished the pizza in super fast time(him slightly more than me…) while the pakora did us well for a tea time snack the following day. And all for only £11.50 including delivery. This is why I’m going all out and giving them the five star treatment. Long may it continue.

I’ve ventured in here many, many times, almost always through sheer convenience rather than the quality of grub on offer. It’s pretty much the usual you get in these takeaways. Kebabs, burgers, pizzas, curries are the name of the day, and to be honest, for some of the menu there’s much better available elsewhere. However, they do a cracking deal Sunday to Thursday, which involves a 2 topping pizza, garlic bread, chips and a can for £7. Go for a pepperoni and spicy mince pizza, and ask to swap the chips for extra garlic bread. You won’t regret it. Your arteries will.
