Edenfit is the gym where I see my personal trainer(see separate review for AG Fitness) and I thought it might be helpful to share some info about the gym space. As a PT client I don’t have a membership for this gym but checking online it is £16.99pm which is pretty cheap for a city centre gym(note this is for an off peak membership). It’s handy to Charing Cross Station and when we visit in the evening there is always parking on the streets nearby. The gym is split over two areas — there’s a studio room(which is used by a karate class on a Monday night) and the main gym area with cardio machines and weights. There’s treadmills, cross-trainers, bikes and rowing machines — these machines are all pretty old and definitely need an update. There’s a large space for stretching and there’s a good range of weights and weight machines. The facilities are always clean and tidy, and at 7pm on a Monday night there’s rarely more than a couple of other people in the gym. Toilet facilities are what you’d expect(loos, showers, large changing area) and they’re obviously conscious of security as the toilets have a pin code on them, and there’s keys for the lockers. They’ve always been clean when I’ve visited. All up, this is a good gym for getting our PT sessions done and I like how quiet it is. It also has nice views over to the Mitchell Library which is nice on a sunny evening.

A gym with decent equipment and a good mix of classes, including Spin and Les Mills’ Body Combat, which non-members can attend for £5. Places need to be booked in advance as most classes are very popular, and class timetables normally change monthly. Apparently they also do a Boot Camp, but I haven’t been brave enough to try it yet! It’s right next to Charing Cross train station, so it’s convenient for the city centre and the West End, although as a non-driver, I can’t comment on parking facilities. It’s never heaving to capacity, so you can use the machines freely without having to wait, which as a former member of a certain Uni gym, I really appreciate! It’s fairly small and this is perhaps why it lacks a pool, which is something I miss, but the equipment it does have seems to be well-maintained and staff are generally helpful. The changing facilities are spacious and clean, and secure lockers are available at no cost(you leave your membership card at reception in exchange for a key). 24hr gyms seem to be all the rage at the moment — frankly I can’t understand the appeal of this arrangement, as I don’t really feel the urge to work out in the dead of night, but anyone looking for this will be disappointed, particularly on a Sunday when the gym is only open until 3pm. I can recommend the Spin class — expect a workout, but the instructors make it fun too.
