Always pretty busy here but staff are great and cocktails are brilliant. Highly recommend.

I was here last Saturday for having a drink, and despite the bar was full of people the staff was really nice and there were enough space to stay. It has some good beer and coctail menus, i just drank a beer but I want to try their coctails as well! You can also have dinner there, and since has 2 floors you can have more relax time upstairs. I will come back for sure!

My guy and I were looking for a place I’d never been to and this was the place. I noticed that they have some crackin’ boozy deals in here during the week. I’m not usually one to go out drinking during the week, but since it was before the holidays, I made an exception and enjoyed a «Purple Rain» on our night out here. We only stayed for one drink as we didn’t have reservations and the table we were sitting at had a party coming in soon. The vibe in here is a bit like the name of the place. Very much like someones home. Loads of couches and cozy seating, and tables to boot. This place is really great for groups and works night out– which happened to be what this place was packed full of as it was just before the holidays. The music here was amazing– it was a great drink had. The bar staff were really attentive and the drinks were made rather quickly. For the cheap price during the week, I’d gamble to say I’d return during the week with friends again!

I pass by Home most weeks, and each time say to the Mr that we should pop in for a drink. Finally, we did. After wandering around the Merchant City, Home looked like the busiest place to hang for a while(it was mid week before payday — always quiet round here then!). It has a pretty decent cocktail menu with lots of weeknight deals — also deals on food, which smelled pretty awesome. Beerwise, not the best selection but you can get Estrella and a couple of others on tap — and it’s ultra cheap! Less than £3 a pint. There’s a pretty awesome balcony area too — the tables here get booked out so it’ll be luvk to get on if you just drop in. There was actually a nice, relaxed atmosphere — not exactly homely, but friendly. We’ll definitely be back.

Had dinner at HOME on a Sunday night so I choose the Sunday Roast meal… big mistake. I was really, really disappointed. Did not touch the veggies as they were dry and shrinked, obviously microwaved more than once, meat was ok I guest but not really tender, mash potatoes more rocky than fluffy. The place is really great, décor is worth the visit, so this is why I give an average rating. Just stay away from the Sunday Roast…

Home is in a wonderful place and has a very artsy feel. They have an amazing 2 meals for £8.45 and the food was delicious and filling! I got the jerk chicken salad. It is a perfect balance of sweet and then the spice comes through for a nice after taste. The burger was large and cooked well. One of the best I have found in Scotland. A secret I found was to put the spicy relish for the chips on the burger for a nice flavour . Great food at a great price in a great atmosphere! I would highly recommend!

Home has everything you could possibly want from a bar. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and fantastic food and drink deals to boot. Never empty, it’s sometimes difficult to get a seat, however definitely worth the wait. With deals such 2 for 1 pizzas and 2 meals for £8.45 you’re guaranteed good food at great prices. Cheeky £3.25 cocktails make the end of a working day that bit more bearable. An absolute must for first-timers who aren’t to sure about Merchant City Bars in general. You won’t be disappointed.

The place is very beautiful and welcoming. You really feel at home. We spent quite a while and would have stay longer too. In my opinion go there to get a drink but I wouldn’t choose it for lunch again. It’s kind of expensive and the food is nothing that you wouldn’t find in any other place for less money.

Decided to come here for a few drinks after having a wander around the merchant city festival(which was awesome BTW). The location of this pub is quite good as it is near other bars and restaurants so you have a lot of different choices if your stuck for somewhere to go. The interior is quite cool, I especially enjoyed the wallpaper at the back — where can I get some?! I’m not sure exactly how much the drinks where as I didn’t buy it, but I think it was around £11 for 3 alcoholic drinks and one soft drink if I remember correctly. It wasn’t overly busy or crowded and we got served quite quick. We did come across quite a rude bartender, who asked for ID in a not so kindly manner when we were clearly over the age limit to buy alcohol. The music wasn’t particularly good either… sort of hurt my ears if i’m honest. But they did eventually change it to more generic chart songs in the end thankfully. Ok pub in my opinion, will probably go again.

Home is a large, spacious pub with comfy seats and some sofas. It has a nice vibe, not too loud, and the staff are friendly and very helpful. They have an extensive food and drinks menu, and there is a ‘two meals for £7.45′ deal, all day, every day! There are 13 dishes to choose from on this deal, so you are not too limited. I had the rum and cola glazed gammon, which comes with fries, onion rings and a corn on the cob. My friend had the chicken and bacon salad with flatbread. Both meals were delicious! We shared a bottle of the house white which is only £8.25, so we were fed and watered for less than £16, which is an awesome deal, especially as many of the pubs in the Merchant City area can be so dear.

Now, normally I’m a fan of Home; cheap wine and cocktails during the week(suits us retail types that don’t get weekends) and decent food menu. When the kitchen is open that is, which, can be anyone’s guess. A friend and I went after dance class a couple of Wednesday’s ago, and arrived not long after 9. Like most city centre bars these days, we expected them to be serving food, especially as the advertise 2−4−1 pizza ALL day. We ordered our wine then asked to see the food menu. Sadly, the kitchen was closed and we were left with rumbling tums and nothing to satiate them except some measly crisps. Nevertheless, due to the cheapness of their house wine, and the food deal, we planned to return the week after, at a more reasonable(you would think) 8pm. I mailed the website to enquire of kitchen opening hours, and received the most vague, ambiguous(at least it was the MOST vague and ambiguous answer until I spoke to one of their staff) reply of maybe 9pm. Depends on the date. So, we tried our luck anyway. We arrived at 8.20 pm, and the«We’re serving food, you can eat here. Go on!»(To paraphrase) board was still outside. «Great! We’ve made it.» we thought. We got a table, looked for a food menu, and lo and behold… the waitress is taking them off the tables. So I enquired at the bar if they were still serving. «The kitchen might be closed. Or they might still be serving. I don’t know.» Ok. So, is it open or closed?! Not a Mastermind level question, I thought. «Um. The chef’s out just now. I’ll check.» Bother not your empty little head, my dear. We shall go somewhere where they know what services they provide. So, for lack of consistency, poor customer service, and blow up staff, Bar Home, you are in the bad books. ***edit*** On leaving negative feedback on their website I was promptly contacted by their customer service team offering an apology, assurance that my complaint will be dealt with, and complimentary meal for 2.

My dad’s a sucker for a meal deal. ‘2 for £7.45!’ he’d say, without fail, every single time we drove by Home. And with every passing by we’d make plans for dinner as my dad showed further signs of his age!(By the seventh or eight passing, dinner here seemed unlikely…) But when in Glasgow on a rainy evening with hungry parents, a quick dinner is a-calling! So we headed here reluctantly based purely on the prospect of a cheap meal. ‘Go on then, what can you give me for £7.45?!’ seemed to be my dad’s attitude to the whole event.(Feel the wrath of Mr C, businesses of Glasgow!) We came in from the rain to a large, bustling pub. The music was loud and it seemed like the majority of people were out for the night and there was a party/big night out feel about Home. I liked the styling of the pub. The décor was retro and it had a lot of character. — Right down to the music which was funky and soulful. We took a seat before ordering at the bar. Between us we ordered two portions of fish and chips, a portion of scampi and the chef’s salad main meal to share. The food was high quality pub food and was fresh and very, very generous in portion size. The chef’s salad was delicious with a mix of chicken, meats and cheese. I just wish the chips were potato wedge style rather than the skinny fry style! That’s just my preference though. Whilst it was a nice meal, the music was just a tad too loud to comfortably talk over which was a little off-putting and it was quite the struggle to get to the bar through the revelers. I can’t say much about the drinks prices but my mum was impressed with the cost of her glass of red. ‘That was alright.’ said my dad afterwards. And it was!

Because of student discounts I am there twice a week. So drinks are cheap, £2,1 for a strongbow(normally £3 I guess) and we usually get free food. So in my opinion I can’t complain ;) sometimes the bar is a bit to crowdy or there are not enough bartenders, but that’s a minor for me. So what to say. To be a student is quite good option at bar Home ;-)) cheers

A great place for groups and their 2-meals-for £10 deal. When I went for food, I ordered the margherita pizza, while my boyfriend ordered fish and chips. The pizza was great, and a good deal for only £5. The crust was thin, the cheese plentiful, and the sauce just enough! My BF ate probably only a quarter of his fish and chips, but I think that can be chalked up to drinking too much on the side rather than it not tasting good enough. Drink prices are reasonable, and there’s loads of seating throughout so that you’re not left to just stand awkwardly with your drink if you’re not here for a meal.

I’ve been here on a Saturday night and found myself thinking.‘I’ve been here for about an hour and I think this is the same rubbish song that’s been playing the whole time’. You won’t hear chart music(Which can be a bonus) but you’ll be sure to hear something that you’ve never heard before from the DJ as one song seems to run into another. Being a ‘Paisley burd’ I found the atmosphere a little la dee da posh mixed with student vibes. I would probably come again during the day to test the atmosphere and the food since I have heard god things about the food from previous reviews.

I’m not too sure why Home is so named; other bars have couches and lamps as well, and I dunno what the loos are like round your place, but mine certainly smells better than they do here! That said, those who have read my other reviews will know I like my baked potatoes, and I recently discovered that Home does a «jacket and drink» deal for £5.10. This has been an awesome find — meal deals such as these are often the preserve of pizza and burger fans, while perennial dieters like myself are left to fork out for slightly less stodgy alternatives. Other meal deals are also on offer, so if you ARE looking for a burger, or a wrap, or fish and chips, you can get a drink along with it, at a very reasonable price. Another plus is that food is served until 10pm, although on one occasion, we chanced it shortly after 9 only to be told that the chef had knocked off early because it was quiet… I’ve heard this place being described as a student bar, but I’ve hung out here at various hours of the day and night without feeling like the oldest swinger in town. The tables can be a bit sticky at times, and it’s not my favourite pub, but the meal deals and the venue’s popularity with some of my most esteemed and discerning fellow Unilocalers will no doubt see me Homeward bound(sorry!) again.

Having had a read through all the other reviews of Home I do wonder if I have just missed the boat on this one entirely?! It does exactly what it says on the tin — Student Bar, and it is near the bottom of the list for me. Personally I find it lacks character, or atmosphere or just anything that makes it ‘one of a kind’. Yeah, good selection of drinks, most of which are averagely priced. I do however remember clearly going at the end of one sunny glasgow afternoon, which is very rare, and deciding I would rather have a cocktail as I had consumed several beers already. Got to say, one of the worst cosmopolitans I have had. Granted when I went back this time, the menu looks like it may have improved a little, but I stuck with cider. I was quite happy with my trip here up until… I went to the bathrooms. I do remember *vaguely* from my last visit that they are far from being great, and they had not improved. At all. Please, if you are going to entice me into your establishment to buy alcohol at least provide decent bathrooms. BUT the worst part was that on my way to the bathroom, I passed the kitchen. There was alot of cardboard, food remnants and other unpleasantries on the floor… I think it is safe to say I will return here for drinks, yes. For food, maybe not so much.

You’ll like Home. I’m not going to delve into the old cliché’s; ‘home is where the heart is’ or ‘there’s no place like home’. Nah, I’m too sophisticated for that. Firstly, I think Home is both a clever and silly name for a bar. It’s clever because you can say to your partner, ‘I’m going Home’ and you’re all ‘Muwahahah…sucker’. But when you’re calling a taxi at the end of the night and you say, ‘I’m at Home. I am going home’ it starts getting confusing. Also, silly because I walk past Home and I think it’s an interiors shop. Inside though, it’s a beautiful place. It’s got lovely mezzanine areas, and windy staircases. Tables and chairs litter the downstairs area, but separated by beautiful velvet covered room separators, giving you the confident and more intimate feeling that you normally wouldn’t get from an open-plan area. Red leather sofas and high backed lounge chairs are dotted around, giving comfort where comfort is due. Too often in places that try to be chic, you’ll find awesome looking furniture that isn’t comfortable ATALL. I’m glad that Home hasn’t sacrificed comfort and functionality for interior design. The prices were much higher than I expected: £2.75 for a Tennents; £4(FOURPOUND!) for a Hoegaarden(but then again Hoegaarden is a really nice beer). However, Home does have other traits that make up for that, such as 2 for £5 meal deals all day long. And though I didn’t try their food, other than a communal plate of chips shared within our party, I was told by a friend, that the food is top notch. The place did have such a party atmosphere that I can understand why it is so popular among the pre-club crowd. On a Friday night, a first class DJ is spinning some very diplomatic beats; nothing too genre specific. I hope you go to Home. It has a lot going for it, and I fin it hard to believe a person wouldn’t be able to enjoy themselves here.

It never stops amusing saying ‘I’m at home’ when someone calls you to ask where you are. After this novelty however, you are left with an average pub in Merchant City. Average in Merchant City though, is above average for the City Centre in general. It is big and bright, and spacious when it isn’t mega busy, which it can be. The weekends are massively popular. We recently hired the place out for a private function upstairs at Christmas and it was a brilliant time, with a really good buffet. It is a relaxed atmosphere with a good food menu. It is not cheap at the bar, with my usual vodka lemonade and lime setting me back some £3 or £4. It’s a nice place, and in a good location near some other great pubs and clubs(and good eateries). If you are ever down that way, I recommend you go. A good place to start off your night perhaps, or for a decent lunch. A bit pricy for your average night out.
