I attended a 30th in here upstairs in the function room and its a great space. Easily holds 50 people with a great dancefloor where the buffet was laid out. It was a great night and drinks were reasonably priced!

Pretty decent pub. I arrived alone and as for a woman to walk into a pub, alone, is sometimes not fun. I was able to take a seat towards the back and a friendly waitress came to take my order. The battered fish and chips were actually quite good, served hot and were crispy, not greasy. The place has the usual dank pub smell at atmosphere but the food was good and service was friendly. Would be back!

Update baby!!! Iron horse. Still the same cloth seat covered wooden chairs and the worm floorboards. But the beer selection has improved greatly. I am impressed. No real ales but loads of craft beers from Williams and the like. If you do not like it from the outside do not go in. But if this looks like your kind of place, it does tick all of the boxes.

Went here after a gig and well watered, I probably wouldn’t have wanted to be in here with less Dutch courage! Seems like a decent enough pub but man it was full of chavvy types, in fairness there was no trouble but it felt like it could happen at any moment. Our metal crowd didn’t really blend in but we got no hassle, just a few looks. But then I was giving the ghastly neon dressed females the same look. Good mix of music from the juke box, apparently you can play pretty much anything as it looks it up on t’internet. Karaōke was in full flow but its difficult to even hear it with other music/noise. Think I’d like to go back when it’s a bit quieter.

Not to be confused with the nearby Bay Horse, the Iron Horse is quite similar to Lauders just up the road. But with a decidedly more drab interior, flatter atmosphere and much higher percentage of men compared to women, Lauders would probably be the preffered option given the choice. The Iron Horse is the sort of place most middle-aged working men will feel very much at home on their day off. On my recent visit on a Saturday night, a big group next to us discussed the recent football results, which were flashing up on Sky Sports News on the TV. One or two second-hand Daily Record’s sat on the nearby tables. A couple of middle-aged woman sat up at the bar, but apart from that, it was ‘laddies’ that ruled the roost. In a nutshell, not the sort of place you would go out ‘on the pull.’

For a long time, I was too scared to enter the Iron Horse. It is loud, brash, usually filled with football fans, has big screen TVs and is situated in the centre of town. A recipe for mayhem, I thought. However, it turns out that I have friends who see this as their local, and it is overly friendly, very vibrant, not too expensive and the best place for an atmospheric afternoon watching the game. Convenient as a starting point for later activity, it is like a small town pub in the centre of Glasgow, a rare treat!

I can’t believe I’m the first person to review this pub. The Iron Horse is a spit and sawdust bar, situated seconds from Sauchiehall Street. It boasts a huge selection of ales and spirits. Its main draw originates on days when the Scottish national team are playing. Saltires are plastered all over the place, and cringeworthy renditions of Doe a Deer drift out towards the traffic. I happened to be in here when James McFadden scored ‘that’ winning goal against France. I remember the bouncers hugging me, before high-fiving a bunch of neds they’d knocked back moments earlier. The next time we produce such an electrifying performance — in forty or fifty years — I wouldn’t resent watching it here in The Horse.

this seems like a bit of an old mans pub to me — completely ordinary, and does exactly what a pub should donamely, serve you drink! the staff and the clientele are happy enough to leave you alone in whatever corner you choose to sit in, and that’s fine by me! i like to stop in every now and then, when all i want to do is spent a quiet hour in a quiet pub reading the paper
