This is our local morrisons and we have been in here numerous times. I think its a great shop and would go more often if it delivered, Morrisons is crying out for delivery! I do a good portion of my weekly shop here as well as diving in for specifics(ie haggis for burns night!). The layout is good but they sometimes stumble with stock and things can run out if its a special occasion or a good offer. Other than this though the store is great, it has a fresh fish counter, a deli counter and a pizza counter with a butcher near it too. I miss all these actual counters with actual people in them, its just so good! The quality of their fish and meat is what drives me to come back time and again for our sunday roast. Its of a good quality, generally you can pick a responsible piece of meat that was well treated during its life and the taste is great. Fantastic store!

Often tarred as the poor relation of the big supermarket chains, I was actually quite surprised to find a Morrisons round here. Given that just across the road is what must be the largest area of concentrated wealth I’ve ever seen in a city of this size, I’d have thought an M&S or Waitrose would have been given the nod. Image crisis aside, Morrisons does have a few areas in which it excels, even if 9 times out of 10 I’d rather a trip to Tesco Extra. The fresh fish counter is a belter, with octopus, oysters and squid to go along with the usual haddock and cod. Some people say I’m a bit odd for loving the smell of these counters, but I don’t care, and there’s few greater fishy smells than that of Morrison’s counter. A similar, more meat and pastry based sensory overload can be had at the pie counter. We also found some cracking buys in the DVD section, and after raking through a fairly large pile of dross, uncovered Coraline and the excellent, but oddly forgotten Brick, for 7 bucks all in. Infuriating self-service checkout aside, our visit was quite a pleasant shopping experience, topped off with an incredibly dignified old gent collecting for cancer research at the door.

This store is best avoided at peak times as checkouts seem unable to cope and the shelves always seem understocked of key items. On the plus side I have been trying Morrisons Indian dishes recently and have to say they are absolutely delicious!
